Post by: cernoch79 on April 17, 2007, 10:07:00 pm
I will be there both nights...

Stop by the merch booth to get your hands on these...

 Wednesday Night poster (Gold ink)
  <img src="http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/800/tvotrgoldblackqg0.jpg" alt=" - " />

 Thursday Night poster (Silver ink)
  <img src="http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/8527/tvotrsilverblackgi2.jpg" alt=" - " />

Only about 75 of each, one color screenprint on heavy black paper.  Individually signed and numbered.

Ooh, very nice.  How much will one of those set us back?  I'm going to have to start bringing protective tubes with me to shows...

I'll be at the Thursday night show! I wish I was going to tonight's show though. I like the gold poster more than the silver.

 thanks.
They measure 19"x25"

I would suggest getting a 22x28 premade frame and putting a thin matte around it.  Would be cheaper thatn getting a custom frame.

Here are a few color combos that will also be available at the show, but in super small amounts . These are real small editions of 15-20 each.

I will have these available through me after the shows.

The gold poster is gorgeous on so many levels. I suspect that the silver is equally gorgeous but just loses something online. I've seen silver on black paper before and it's quite stunning with how it works with the light.

On a design level, I really love how these look extremely architectural. Almost like an extreme close up view of a city by day vs by night. Or maybe one is summer and the other winter.

How heavy is the paper? Telling me weight or stock number won't say much to me so I guess you'll have to use words somehow. Hope you went with a heavier, sturdier stock. These are really some fine works of art.

Thanks for the kind words.

The Black paper is very heavy, it definitely has weight to it.   I was surprised how good these came out.  The guys that print these don't mess around.  The ones on white paper are a little lighter stock.  The  blue paper is the same weight as the black paper.

Absolutely terrible...

Last night was a great, but way too short.

Played an hour set with a two song encore.

 Pretty weak IMO.

There may be a few left from last night.

They weren't horrible, but I would skip them.  They had one good song (the third one), mixed in with a lot of Gwen Stefani-wannabe facial expressions and jumping around antics by the lead chick.  There is no way in hell that she wasn't the captain of the drama club in high school.

Best Overheard Line of the Night:

Scene:  Outside the club; two dudes are attempting to sell some tickets.

Dude #1:  Man, this sucks.  Iâ??ve been here for like half-an-hour.
Dude #2:  Yeah.  Young professionals must buy all their tickets ahead of time.
 Dude #1:  Fuckinâ?? yuppiesâ?¦

Well, I got there well after 9pm hoping to miss most of the Noisettes but still get a good position for TVOTR. I think they must have gone on later than they did Wednesday night though, because I ended up seeing way more of the Noisettes than I would have liked. I agree with ggw's assessment: Not horrible, but not good either. Their performance and stage presence varied from mediocre to awful. But I did get a really good position, dead center about 20 feet from the stage, so it was worth getting there when I did.

TV on the Radio was absolutely fantastic! One of the best concerts I've attended so far this year. For my money, this show was an order of magnitude better than their shows at the 9:30 Club and Sonar last October. Everything about this show better: The lighting was better, the sound was better, the performance was better, the song arrangements were better, the audience was better, and they were more energetic and receptive to the audience. I couldn't be happier. This was really a resurgence of TV on the Radio, possibly even surpassing their landmark performances from early 2004. My only gripe: Where was NPR on this? Man, I wish All Songs Considered had recorded tonight's show for posterity.

So they only did two songs in the encore on Wednesday? They did three tonight....

what Darth Ed said, wow, what a performance - amazing sound, easily the best show of the year for me, their songs are completely transformed live - a borderline religous experience!

I caught the last few notes of the Noisettes and I have to say that their music is quite forgettable.

TVOTR, on the other hand, just slayed!!! They were good last October but I was also half-dead and didn't enjoy the performance as a result of the late start. I had my earplugs on this time but sorry sweetcell, I had to take it off during "Dreams", "Staring at the Sun" and "Wolf Like Me"   :)

I wish they played "Poppy" and "Ambulance" though, but in the end it didn't matter. I was all smiles after the show. You know the feeling after an orgasm? mmmmmmmmmmm

I'm almost sure there was something between "A Method" and "Staring At The Sun" wednesday but forget what it was. But yeah; the show wednesday was transidental as well. Dave's playing is so minimal but pretty much gives the band the unique sound they have. Standing right in front of his amp without protection was worth the permanent damage.  ;)

You can find all the posters for sale here:

I have a few White stock and Midnight Blue stock varients.  These are rare.  Only a few of the white ones were sold at the show, and they were gone fast.  None of the midnight blue posters were availible at the show, but are only availible in the poster pack.

I was at the Stooges and the Wednesday TVOTR.  They were not comparable.

I thought the Wed. show was solid, but nowhere approaching transcendent.

Let's just say that I dug all the songs that TVotR played, while the new songs that the Stooges played made me want to slit my wrist.
Sooo, I'm going with the better songwriters (TVotR). Iggy is still a great performer, though.
