-
Uh, YEAH!
-
i'm going to be there.
looking to do boston and philly as well.
-
I'm going to the Chicago gig as well. I can't friggin' wait. I hope they play "Do It Clean" this time though!
-
At the Black Cat? Never woulda expected that one.
-
after their performance at the hfstival...no thanks
-
They were great at Glastonbury
-
Wouldn't miss it. I'm surprised it's not sold-out yet. Tickets have been on sale for a few weeks already.
-
I would be there in a hearbeat, but I'm off to France that day (I know, don't cry for me Argentina).
-
what happened at HFStival?

Ian had throat issues, but was a bit of a primadonna and after a couple of tries walked off the stage. I don't know how he thought he could pull it off. I saw them 2 nights earlier in Philly and it was brilliant. Unfortunately, a lot of folks probably now think they're a bunch of wankers and that they suck live, but in all honesty they're one of the best live bands for your money. Especially when they play stuff like "Do It Clean" or "Loose" by the Stooges. Echo to me is still one of the coolest bands. Not that I'm buddies with Will either, but he's always been super friendly to me.

what kind of ratio of new/old songs do you think we'll hear? i have their greatest hits and absolutely love it, but if they're playing all stuff from their new albums i'm not sure if i'd want to go ... any ideas?
-
I have (well a friend has) my ticket for the echo show. it happens that i ended up booking tix to be in california at that time (thanksgiving and all coming up), so i wont be able to go. instead ill be seeing the dandy warhols in SF. if anyone ends up needing a ticket, let me know as i'll need to get rid of this.
sorry novadancer for having to bail. cant believe i F***ed up your birthday plans :( but at least you wont have to see the dandy warhols who i know you love ;)

Nearly all old stuff, they always tend to do about 4 songs off whatever their latest record is (at most) and then play old stuff. There's heavy emphasis on older album tracks, stuff of Crocodiles, Heaven Up Here, Ocean Rain. Definitely pick those LPs up for some classic Echo stuff. Crocodiles is still a favorite, but Ocean Rain is great too. I highly recommend going to see them!

his voice was really crapping out at the lancaster show. i didn't notice it nearly much in philly as in lancaster, though.

I know this might sound rather strange, but when I went here to the local laundromat...there they were, Echo and the Bunnymen in all their splendid regalia.
Even stranger, the other day I was changing the oil in my Kia...I was in the garage and I was laying on the floor. There's a small crack in the cement of the garage floor, just to the left. And guess who was in the crack? Echo & The Bunnymen. Somehow they had miniaturized themselves and they had managed to crawl down into the crack.
I was quite startled by this, so I ran into the apartment for a bottle of Old Crow that I keep under the sink for just such emergencies. When I opened the door to beneath the sink...there was Echo & The Bunnymen, slightly enlarged this time to about the size of mice...and they were scuttling along the wainscotting.
So, as you can tell from my poast, I'm literally seeing Echo & The Bunnymen everywhere.

Will Sergeant's List of Music You Should Hear (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/guides/guide-display/-/8X9N53IJQ1BK/ref%3Ded%5Fmus%5Fmysh%5Frecent%5Fsergeant/ref%3Damb%5Fleft-2%5F105109001%5F11/103-1109433-3496603)
On the occasion of their 10th studio release, 'Siberia', Echo and the Bunnymen's Will Sergeant sent us his recommended list of albums. Given that Will, his guitar, and his band(s) have inspired thousands (and appeared on countless complations and mix tapes!) since 1978, we think it is great to read his thoughts on Music You Should Hear.
'Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era, 1965-1968'
This box set is essential for the 21st century garage punk.
'Nuggets II: Original Artyfacts from the British Empire and Beyond'
More psychedelic nonsense with a British/Euro flavour.
'666', Aphrodite's Child
This forgotten gem is an acid-soaked beauty. The Cd is a trip right there painted on the plastic by the laser of love.
'In the Land of Grey & Pink', Caravan
I love this folk/prog/psych album for the posh vocals and of course the slow wha-wha Farfisa organ.
'Close to the Edge', Yes
I know what you're thinking, "Will's lost it." Give it a whirl--you may just like it.
'The Piper at the Gates of Dawn', Pink Floyd
Syd in full effect, you don't get a more trippy album than this.
'Foxtrot', Genesis
Peter Gabriel in a flower mask prancing around like a big jessie, bloody marvellous.
'Meddle', Pink Floyd
You can run but you can't hide, 'Dark Side of the Moon''s younger and more interesting brother.
'Ambient 1: Music for Airports', Brian Eno
After all that prog you will need a sit-down with a cup of tea. Stick this on and your cares will fall like autumn leaves.
'Neu!', Neu!
German drone prog.
Recipe:
· Take one chord, add reverse guitar and Mo Tucker-flavoured drums
· Spread on CD thickly
· Grill for 10 min.
YUMMY
'Trans-Europe Express', Kraftwerk
More Germanic sounds electro pioneers--tighter than a gnat's chuff.
'Not Available', the Residents
Not released till the Residents had forgot they had made it or something like that. Easter Island is my land I'm coming home to you. Dreamy weird and sad.
