The Joan Jett/Eagles of Death Metal show should be a  lot of fun. They're playing PDX in November with Throw Rag on the bill, too. I still haven't recovered from seeing that band when they opened for Queens of the Stone Age a couple years ago.

There's also The Hold Steady on 10/2.

Yeah, October is out of control. It looks like I'll be going to at least 18 shows that month

At the top of my list and not noted on any of the above is:

10/9: Secret Shine, Alcian Blue & tba* - The Warehouse Next Door

First tour for Secret Shine since their original drummer died. Also, DC is lucky enough to get one of their only US appearances.

*If all goes as planned, the tba band is one that is worth seeing in their own right. It's just not confirmed so can't be publicized yet.

Ouch, one day before their album drops.  Well, we take what we can get, right?

i'm passing on the brand new heavies. they were great in july, but i think they will do exactly the same set next month, and who knows if they will get a good opener. van hunt was a great opener. too bad his show at the black cat last week was cancelled.

3 chances to see him in 2 days an i'm going to be in f'n vegas.

i know, shut up, its vegas, but still! my only chance to see swell season.

why can't musicians check with MY social calender before touring. the nerve!

Haha, that's right, you were up front and center for that show. You got to see the dick-jiggle contest close-up.  :D  What's even scarier is I used the words dick jiggle when writing a review of the show on my blog and there are people finding my site because they're searching for "dick jiggle."

I just want to throw in a word about the unmentioned openers at these two shows. Envelopes at the Ratatat show and Archie Bronson Outfit at Apples. Both are worth seeing and rarely come to the US. October is indeed crazy.
Oh and I don't think you mentioned the Dam! Fest show I'm most excited about:
Oct. 28th - De Novo Dahl, Bishop Allen, Pela

Being up front for Throw Rag was nasty, revolting, and it scarred me for life. That being said, they were one of the best openers I've ever seen. I have never laughed so hard in my life. And I actually liked their music...but I would imagine they don't get many groupies. Bleah.

Was just checking out the Group Sex deeeluxe reissue coming out.  I can't believe they split the album onto both sides of the record.  The 7 songs on side one will account for about 5 minutes of music.  Just dumb.

Anybody know who is in Cave’s band these days?

The material on Ghosteen is pretty sparse

Did he replace Conway?
