If anyone has any info as to when these tickets are going on sale it would be much appreciated thanks!

i kosmo promise not to whine, bitch, or moan about this $40 concert. it's going to be a whole different story if it's a $50+ concert :D
-
I agree ticket prices are getting out of hand but Im sure it would be $40+ to see them @Patriot Center or an outdoor amphitheater like Nissan or Merriweather but then in that case I wouldnt even go, Im only going to shell out the larger bux to see them in a much smaller venue. Also, if you look at their tour schedule, the 9:30 Club seems to be the smallest by far.

Wow! A huge pull by the Club! A $50 cover charge is never pleasant (if that were the case) but ticket prices just aren't an issue on this one.
-
The Great Rock and Roll Swindle 2003. Sex Pistols were a one album novelty act.
-
yeah Rhett..... And you are all excited to see drive by truckers tonight too.
So where did the info come from?
Even I might be tempted to see this, although the thought of 50 year olds singing punk songs is just so unappealing......

Yeah they're old, and yeah they're farts, but I think this should be really good. Take away all the "punk" BS hype surrounding them and Never Mind the Bollocks is a killer album with killer songs that are still often imitated and never duplicated. I didn't see them in 96 but calling the tour "Filthy Lucre" was dubious from the start. Now, assumedly, they're touring w/ nothing to prove, not attempting to be relevant, and maybe not even doing it just for the money. Sure Johnny Rotten/Lydon usually comes across these days an embarrassing characterature like Diamond David Lee Roth, but I'd think Steve Jones can still tap into 1976-77 and the rest will follow.

Thanks Hunter..... So its unconfirmed but probable......
-
Yes, I'll pay $12 to see the Drive By Truckers tonight, but I sure as hell won't pay $50 to see them 25 years from now.
Of course if the Pistols play Bumbershoot, they'd be good for a laugh. I do see that a couple of the Bumbershoot days are conspicuously abset from their itinerary.

What gets lost in all the rest of the sex pistols nonsense is that Steve Jones was / is a great guitarist.
-
I think I saw him playing guitar at a club for Iggy Pop 10 or 12 years ago. Did I, or is it just my imagination?

I guess the difference is no pne knows who the drive by truckers are now, the chance of anyone knowing who they are in 25 years is slim.
The pistols are living legends, they had a direct influence on so many bands.
-
i have to agree with rhett on this one. i think i'll stay home and clip my toenails.
-
If enough music writers start sucking their dicks, they will become legends just like the Pistols.
People still know who Jethro Tull and Deep Purple are 25 years later.

nope... steve jones was on board with iggy for awhile. i missed those shows of course.
-
I can't imagine it being very good seeing a bunch of 50 year old blokes pretending to be pissed off at the estabishment that probably flew over in first class and are staying in the Four Seasons while playing in DC. The great memories of them in their heyday are good enough for me on this one.
Some of the old bands can get away with reunion gigs, other's can't in my opinion...the pistols are in the latter.
-

Are you insinuating that you think DBTs will be as big as Tull or Purple? Somehow I doubt it.
If the music press sucked the pistols dick or no, they were a very influential British band.
And never mind the bollocks still sounds pretty good now.
But Mankie hit the nail on the head.... Rich 50 year olds snarling could really put my back up.
So I am sitting on the fence, but I think I might go, at least if I do I will be able to moan about it for months.
-
My question is...who will the support be? Does Johnny Rotten even like any other bands?
-
I heard it was going to be the Drive By Truckers.

Shane and jim ker are not singing about "anarchy in the UK" and all that other teenage angst stuff, while lapping up a life of luxury from the royalties. That was my point Kosmo. If you want to go see them then God bless, but for me it would spoil the nostalga of it all. I guess my safety pin earing will have to stay in my shoebox collection!

johnny will like anyone as long as they pay him enough to be on the tour
-
not very many people in the us ever got to see them in their heyday... you had the opportunity and i was taking the piss. blur right now is the same for me... saw a great show many years ago at what i was feel their near their peak, not sure if i want to see them now.
-
Music is just entertainment. It could be really entertaining watching nearly 50 year old guys jumping up and down on stage.....
Where is your Zimmer?
My grandad told me you would be good.
Oh I can just imagine the heckles already.

I thought you all hated each other...

Also contemporaries of Television who were great in March. Nothing wrong with Joe Strummer the last time he played the Club. Sorry to say I've never seen Iggy Pop, but he's still got it. When the music holds up, age just is not an issue.

But the sex pistols stuff doesn't hold up when coming out of the pie-hole of a 40 something rich bloke.

were so pretty, oh so pretty, <img src="http://www.suprmchaos.com/sex-pistols_072202.jpg" alt=" - " />

they only way i'd go see the enumerating wombats and john "enough already" mayer is if i got free tickets and the other acts came now with bubonlic plague and stew of the negro problem was force to play all night in thier place.

well. . .that's 2 days after my birthday. . .so, radiohead is two days before my birthday and the pistols are 2 days after my birthday. . .but so far, nothing on my birthday (although gbv is playing out in lo-cal that day).
-
alright, let's get this one over with
it's in August and it's $40
let the whining begin!

No quarrel with $40, I figured it would be $50 anyways. Besides, the rest of the tour is comprised of outdoor amphitheatres (Jones Beach in NY wants $47.50) and smaller-end arenas so Im looking forward seeing them in a venue thats enclosed and much smaller.

I can't believe you are 41! You look so young...must be years of clean livin'

i've noticed that some people, and even myself sometimes, seem to hate on band/artist who play shows long after there prime or even long after they even matter musically. But for a show like this I will absolutely be there. WHY? because when Never Mind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols came out i was still two years from being born. So, If they were better in Manc in '78 and thats the memory you'd like to go with cool, but I'll have to settle for 930 club in aug.
-

I think they can charge just about anything they want and get away with it at a small place like 9:30 Club. They can charge 30-40 dollars, and that would be nice. But if they charge fifty or sixty bucks, it will sell out just the same. They can charge 100 bucks and it will sell in just about any club. They will charge what they can get as artists. I'd love to see some respect for their fans, but who sees that anymore? If they do ridiculously overcharge, I hope to see some of the larger venues on their tour half-filled. It served as a lesson to Peter Gabriel last fall when he charged 130 bucks a pop to see his bloated ass on stage.
-
Yes, Billie Holiday and Hank Williams both died before I was born. I wish I had been able to see them both.
-
i was born in '78...my parents have told me that they used to call me 'baby rotten' after johnny rotten
not taht they were fans or anything (i grew up listening to john denver), i think they had just read about the sex pistols or soemthing and thought it was funny
man, now that i think about it, that's traumatizing
-
$40 for the Pistols vs $35 for the Human League.
I know where my money will be going.....
"you were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, when I met you....."
$40 is a steal for the Pistols at 930. Good job Seth, thanks.

Disgustingly, I'm in agreement with Markie, errr, Andrew on this one - nice job landing the Pistols at such a small venue. I will have moved by then, and can pay $50 to see them at the Joint in Vegas so stop your bitching.
Venerable, they're not playing the Fillmore in SF, opting for the Warfield. I've never been there - any thoughts?
-
I'm not saying that the Sex Pistols will be good, but some of the best shows I've seen this year were by old guys -- Paul Weller, Mission of Burma, X, even Henry Rollins is north of 40.

let's see. . .only been to the warfield once. . .think of an old movie house or theatre, with three levels of seating, although the floor has no seating, but it's very small. it's where jerry garcia and david grisham (sp?) practically lived for 3 years. fillmore is a much better venue, imho, and it would have been great to see the pistols play at the fillmore just for history sakes.
also, the warfield is right on market street in downtown (if memory serves correctly), so you'll probably have to pay for garage parking and not street (like at the fillmore).

Perhaps, but they can only "tour" every couple of years....

Cheers (as usual - when you get tired of me asking about No Cal, just let me know). I'll go to Vegas and see them.
