wtf?
doesnt affect me, but affects some people i know that were looking forward to them.
lame.
-
Bright Eyes has fans over 21?
-
Bright Eyes is actually good...
Looks like the show is sold out. I got tix! *happy dance*
-
Apparently every show that went on sale today is listed as 21+.
Good luck getting anyone to come see Pepper haha
-
looks like most of the shows announced this week are 21 and over... speaking in very unofficial capacity... it appears to be just in case decision by the club, although if you believe what Graham said in the City Paper story the 9:30 club wouldn't be affected by his legislation.
-
Maybe 9:30 is preparing for legislation to come down, so they decided to make these 21+, since they know they're going to sellout anyway. That way they don't need to deal with as many under-21s complaining that they bought tickets and can't go.
I forgot about Bright Eyes. No wonder I got a few "high transaction volume/try again" messages.
-
So, then, kosmo - if his legislation doesn't pass or if it doesn't affect 9:30 club, in that case will these age restrictions be enforced?
-
I got shut out of Bright Eyes so I tried for Ted Leo and got that message again...scared me for a second. But I pulled two about a minute after Bright Eyes sold out.
-
There needs to be an automatic clicker program for these types of shows. I just bought them because my ex wants to go, how appropriate its a Bright Eyes show
-
dunno you'd have to ask 9:30's legal team :)
-
I didn't know Ted Leo would command the "high transaction" message, how the times have past me
-
looks like the restriction has been lifted already..
-
Smoking ban + under 21 ban = GREAT NEWS!
What's next?
;)
-
Bright Eyes isn't sold out yet. I just got one after 20 minutes of clicking that fucking button repeatedly.
And that auto-clicker thing sounds like a horrible idea. I think they already exist anyway.
-
theyre still available...keep trying
i just picked up 2 a min ago
-
Does anyone think that Ted Leo is in danger of selling out shortly, or do I have time to swing by the club later today in order to avoid $19 of extra charges on 4 tickets?

It's a question best posed to Eddie in the FAQ forum, but my educated guess would be Ted Leo doesn't sell 1200 tickets in <8 hours.
-
I'd give Ted Leo about two weeks to sell out. Even though he never sells out the Black Cat until the day of, he sold out the 930 Club a few weeks before the show last time he played here.
-
is there anyway to get tickets to Bright Eyes! Ive been trying since 10!

Scalpers. Ebay. The ticket-exchange forum.
-
i dont understand what was so hard about this. if you were there at 9:58 and know how to refresh, it shouldn't have been a problem.
-
Uhh I was doing that with two seperate windows and still didn't get in. With high demand, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Its not a matter of it being "hard" its a matter of being lucky.
-
its all luck. Me and my friend were on 2 computers with multiple windows and we didnt get any.

Sorry, you're right. I think I just freaked out when I saw the red text of doom on the Ted Leo page (although it was "high transaction," not "insufficient tickets").

Thanks for your opinion...although the Black Cat is smaller than the 9:30 Club, no? I can't argue if it's empirically true, but how does that work in terms of supply/demand?
-
where can i apply to 930's legal team?
-
the Teo Show will sell out, probably faster than usual, especially after opening for death cab two nights in a row.
i say the 2 weeks notion is pretty accurate.
-
It is not luck.
I have never been unable to get tickets to a show at the 9:30 Club, Bright Eyes included.
-
The 21+ tags on these shows was a mistake by Tickets.com. We are still an all ages venue.
-
I highly recommend people buy their Ted Leo tickets ASAP. If you don't want to spend $$$ on the charges, definitely get them by this weekend.
-
Sheista. I had to finish d/l some stuff before I could log on to get a ticket...Welp, looks like I'll be looking for a ticket..
-
Didn't Ted Leo sell out the last Black Cat show in less than a week?
-

My bad. I guess those of us who happen to get shut out of high demand shows sometimes are just retarded.
Teach us your tricks, oh master of 930 ticketing...

I'm pretty sure it sold out almost immediately.
-
ted leo black cat last year went on sale on friday and by sunday morning, it was sold out.

I am not trying to start trouble. I just don't think much luck is involved.
As I said earlier, I have been to dozens of shows that sell out quickly and have always been able to get tickets--if chance was involved, I would have been unable to get some of the tickets.
1) Be aware of when tickets go on sale.
2) Have a good internet connection.
3) Log on early.
4) Hit refresh until the sale appears.
5) Never buy more than 2 tickets at one time.
6) Keep hitting refresh until you get tickets.
7) If necessary, repeat step six for up to half an hour.

...which are the exact steps nearly everyone takes to get high-demand tickets. You are not more skilled than anyone else, you have just been lucky.

1) I don't think I possess secret knowledge and/or skills.
2) There is no such thing as luck.
-
Keeping up with pre-sales (from the artist/label, not just venue or Ticketmaster) is a way to increase the odds of getting a ticket, and if you miss on that, you still have the general on-sale opportunity.
Saddle Creek has held presales for the last few Bright Eyes shows that I can remember. The system had its issues for the upcoming show, but I was able to get two tix pretty easily.
That being said, there's still a good dose of luck involved.
-

So people who win the lottery are...??
-
So people who win the lottery are...??
Answer: Stupid and fortunate. There is a very small chance of winning.
It all comes down to probability. If something happens to me all the time, I don't consider myself fortunate.
I don't want to start a battle of semantics, but to me, "luck" implies some mysterious power being involved.
-
I don't want to start a battle of semantics, but to me, "luck" implies some mysterious power being involved.
And "fortune" doesn't? I agree there's no mysterious being doling out Bright Eyes tickets, but there is a certain element of random chance to getting tickets to these sorts of things. Sure, there's things one can do to increase their odds, but I don't think when a Bright Eyes or Incubus plays 9:30 club that someone is guaranteed to get tickets following your 7 step method.
And I'm not complaining, for the record, I got 4 tix.
-
You are correct. "Fortunate" was a sloppy choice of words.
-
The point about "luck" not being involved might assume a large sample -- that is to say if you did exactly what you did today 500 times, the odds are very good that you'd get tickets as often as someone else who tried 500 times, all things (such as ticket quantity and connection speed) being equal.
-
I go to tickets.com to get shut out of tickets.
-
I go to tickets.com to get "lucky".
-
i was online 10 minutes before the tickets went onsale, and didn't immediately buy them at 10 because of the indication that the show was 21+. so i called 930 and found out it was a mistake, and when i got back to my computer at 10:02 i couldn't even get 1 ticket.
-
does anyone know if there's a chance he will play a 2nd night?
-
does anyone know if there's a chance he will play a 2nd night?
It seems unlikely from the schedule. He's obviously not playing Tuesday night since the Wednesday show is in California so that's a travel day, but I guess he could play Sunday as well.
Although, they announced all the 2-night shows up front everywhere else so it makes no sense to have held back that info in DC.
-
Should've just kept trying. But thanks for giving up so soon; it probably helped my ability to score a ticket at 10:20. Like others have said, sitting there and clicking refresh for half an hour once you've gotten passed the number verification thing is more likely than not to pay off.
-
Smoking ban + under 21 ban = GREAT NEWS!
What's next?
alcohol ban
-
Honestly I could live with an alcohol ban since I refuse to pay $6 for a beer and don't drink at the club anyway.
Not that I support a ban, because I'm all for the club making money off of alcoholics and suckers willing to spend that amount of money. Just saying I could live with it.
-
i think the shows should be 21+
-
If anyone who scored Bright Eyes tix wants to invite/sell a ticket or two, I am up for going to the show. I was one of the ppl who stopped trying after 10 minutes....I didn't realize how tickets.com works. I have learned my lesson well. Any takers?
-
Christov, what's in it for me?
;)
-
Ted Leo and the MEDICATIONS?
Why did they change the name?
-
I don't know....hmm....well, there is the money and if you think of something let me know. Do you actually have an extra ticket or two?
-
What about the other local band the medications?
-
What was face value for the Bright Eyes show?
-
$26 each through the fan club presale (no service charges will call only)
-
$25 through tickets.com.
-
$66 for two tickets after tickets.com rape charges.
-
They're going for $115 a pair on Craigslist and a bit more on Ebay. While it sucks to pay so much more than face value, that seems reasonable for a fairly big act and a club show.
-
I sat there for an hour (skipped class) and at around 1040 I finally got tickets.
-
The real victims of the potential under 21 ban: fall out boy and panic at the disco. Those bands are going to feel pretty weird playing for 5 or 6 people.
-
nah they'd just have more afternoon, no alcohol shows like they're doing for that "cute is what we aim for" band.
what a dumb name for a band, by the way.
-
where the heck was i that i totally missed the ted leo tickets going on sale? was it presale only or general sale? i thought the tour was just announced, not that tickets had already gone on sale.
so i'm sol, eh? all sold out?
oh well. foolish me for not being on this board more regularly.
-
Ted Leo isn't sold out yet.
