I'm going and I've never been to Fort Reno before.  Could anyone tell me what it's like?  Is it more picnic style (do I need to bring a blanket? food?), or will everyone be standing near the stage like at a club show? Thanks!

It's an open, grassy field with a stage about 6' off the ground. There's a Whole Foods across the street. I'd definitely recommend bringing a blanket or a jacket to sit on. Some folks do stand near the stage, but most are sitting and chatting with friends, etc.

ummm... and did someone mention alcohol free?

yeah.  no drugs, no booze, no glass bottles.  that's really important since it would suck to be the person to make the shows lose their permit.

I am downgrading myself to a maybe, mostly cause I really need to find a new job, and this is a perfect night to bust my ass for 5 hours doing just that.

Anyone know when these shows are over? Is it before 9?

I don't want to yell fire in a crowded theater or anything, but Ian's mom passed away the other day so I wouldn't be surprised if the Evens didn't do this show.  I also wouldn't be surprised if they did.  Just passing that along so those of you going won't be too dissapointed if they don't play.

so is the show at 7:15 or at 6:30?

What is "Chad Clark On Recording" ?

 From the site:

 THURSDAY, JULY 1st
 TED LEO / THE EVENS
AT 6:30pm CHAD CLARK ON RECORDING

Shows at Fort Reno are held every Monday and Thursday. They begin promptly at 7:15pm and end at 9:30pm. Occasionally, shows get delayed or canceled due to weather conditions. The shows are free, all ages are welcome and alcoholic beverages are not allowed.

Occassionally they have information speakers, if I'm not mistaken.  I'm guessing this is one: Chad Clark speaking on Recording.

Did it happen?  Anyone go?  I wasn't about to sit through a hail storm for it.

yup - it happened - weather turned out perfect in fact -- all we got at Ft Reno was some wind and thunder

The Evens I thought were quite good - Ian dedicated a song to his Mom

Ted Leo was with the Rx and not solo - I thought they were excellent - they seems to be having minor sound problems for the first few songs from their perspective which was weird because I though the sound was amazing for what was essentially a field

nice to bump into kurosawa, redsock and ggw (and winston?) who as far as baby (and daddy) brennser are concerned is the coolest dog in the world!

Hail storm? I went, and it was quite nice, including the weather. The Evens were low-key, as expected, but still good. My very first time seeing Ted Leo. I think I would rather see him in a venue where i could concentrate on him. A lot of his stuff can sound alike live... but at least it sounds good. Nice meeting little Brennser, even if she didn't want to say good-bye to me. Oh, and Wilson the incredibly soft Republican dog as well.

hmmmm - out in Silver Spring we had a good hour of heavy rain, hail and thunder up until about 7:00. I figured if nothing else it was raining downtown.  Damn.

Yeah, it was coming down pretty hard around 6:30 -7pm in Takoma Park, too. I thought the power was going to go out for sure. There were flash flood watches in effect.

I thought the Evens were much better - more consistent - than at the Warehouse show.  I saw some of Ted Leo, who was great.  The sound was really good for a Fort Reno show.

Nice to meet baby Brennser.  The soft Republican had a great time and passed out as soon as he got home.
