I figured we adequately highjacked Kurosawa's Black Mountain thread.
So, pollard's last show in DC (our forum pollard, I speak of) -- The High Strung, Oct. 19. Dude, Jammin' Java. Hmmmm....
10/19/2005
Vienna, VA
Jammin Java
w/ The Drams
What other shows are you going to before you leave, P?
And, as an FYI, he's moving to Portland, OR, so you can discuss the city here. ;)
-
I dont know if I will be going to any other shows before then, have a lot to do in the next month
-
Damn, Pollard! I'm going to miss you. :(
Oddly, I just ran across some guy the other week who reminded me a lot of you and he just happened to be in Portland, Or.. Things might get kind of confusing out there with both of you being there.

Poke out your eyes and move to Portland. Kill your wife and move to Portland. Burn down your home and move to Portland. Come on everybody, we're moving to Portland!

Inevitably I can't make it...Pollard, when do you leave?
-
the Drams are the headliners. the High Strung is the opening act. Tish Hinohosa is playing a separate early show. Show is listed as 9:30 PM. Don't know if the 12 pm curfew that i encountered at another JJ show is in effect.

There's plenty of room for all of you on this coast. Keep coming west!
-
Sorry to miss the Pollard send-off party. I'll be in the Land o'Vansmack.

I always think of:
so you held your breath
and you cursed the west
said you had no choice
you're moving back east where men are men

Set times:
High Strung 9:30
the Drams 10:30
...unless the early show runs late, then it's asap.
the Drams won't be playing any Slobberbone material (and neither will the High Strung, presumably)
-
Sadly, I will not be able to make it either. Pollard, I'll see you in Portland!
-
Farewell Pollard enjoy life on the left coast!
Dug the new Whoesque power trio sound of the High Strung need to get my mitts on a copy of their cd.
The need for sleep won out over the Drams..

The High Strung were good, fun to watch. The drummer reminded me of Jonathan Richman. Wish they had played more off of their first album and played a longer set.
The Drams sucked. Brent kept going on about how they were "a brand new band" (he said it like three times in the first half hour) and wouldn't be playing any old songs, even though three of the members were in Slobberbone. The last Slobberbone album was called "Slippage". The new Drams album should be called "Suckage". Ridding themselves of the two things that made them charming, the punkiness and the twanginess, has reduced them to MOR crap.

I have heard these are good times so many times live that I enjoyed hearing the new material. It certainly fits into the set better now than it did originally.
Oh and Kosmo, The new album is available on itunes! :p
-
LOVED The High Strung. They are one of my new favorites. Great live presence!

it was nice of The High Strung to play a show just for me :p , and my request as well
it sounded much better than I anticipated, and I had listened to and liked the new album before the show, I just thought they wouldnt be able to pull it off with 1 guitar
