Title: rock clubs in new york?
Post by: Arthwys on July 15, 2005, 11:03:00 am
Hey, i'm heading up to the big apple for the first time in over a decade w/ some friends for saturday night only.  What decent spots to hang out are there along the lines of DC9?  Something w/ that type of music and atmosphere would be great.

Howard Dean's new hardcore band is playing CBGB's that night.  Should be killer.

try Orchard Bar (on orchard between houston and stanton).

decent place, gets crowded, plenty of people dancing..and the djs seem to mix it up in a way to please all types.

then swing by Katz's around the corner to cure late-night munchies.

The Hi Fi (formerly Brownies)

If you are looking for hipster points, last time I was there a couple of years ago a guy from Radio 4 was working the door and lead singer from Interpol was playing Pool, and they have a great jukebox and it never got too crowded

My favorite place -- I end up there about half the time I'm in NYC....but sssssshhhh, don't want it to get crowded.

I probably shouldn't be allowed in, as I wouldn't know a guy from Radio 4 if I was making out with him!

yeah, why isn't there a search function here?  I know the software has it built in, so it must be disabled!
