Post by: edbert on October 04, 2006, 10:40:00 am
Just found out that Terry Gilliam will be at the Hirshhorn tomorrow night (Thursday) (http://hirshhorn.si.edu/programs/films.asp)
to introduce a free screening of his new movie  Tideland (http://www.tidelandthemovie.com), "a bleak fairy tale".

He was cast but they ran out of time for his scenes.  I'm sure Terry will apologize at the screening.

I never saw The Brothers Grim, bcause Matt Damon was in it.  God I hope Terry never casts Angelina Jolie or Gwynneth Paltrow in one of his.  Ben Affleck, strangely, would be okay.

Saw Tideland at the Toronto Film Festival.  It is a disaster and an endurance test, but it's pretty much still required viewing.  I didn't enjoy it, but I respected it.  One way or another, it will make you forget about the Brothers Grimm.

Anyway, what's the Matt Damon beef?  I loved Syriana last year and The Departed this year.

I love Terry Gilliam, but when the last good movie he was involved in was a documentary about his inability to make the Don Quixote film, it should have been a clue to his fans that his glory days were over.
