I have to say this was not as good as I thought it would be. I got in fairly quickly but it looked as if things didn't start on time. On top of that the opening act was horrible(no offense) but you don't bring out a polka/riverdance group for an opening act. We should have got a refund just for that. After that it was really late and then Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings came on. Now she was good and stopped a fight in the crowd. I had to leave after I heard my 1 song(100 Days/100 Nights). I have to say I would have rather had Sharon come out and do her thing with no opener.

I can't believe you clowns are just now discovering Sharon Jones. She's been around for a coon's age.
-
And I can't believe you actually used the term "coon's age." :D

Could not make it to the show but wish I did. I hope they liked the poster. It seems fights always break out at the most sedate/non-aggressive shows. Fights at Sharon Jones? Yes. Fights at Slayer? No.
-
no it sold out before i got tickets :(

i don't know what slayer shows you are going to.
-
I saw them a few times in NYC and the crowd was the nicest I have ever seen. No, I am not joking.

you got lucky. that is not my experience with slayer shows.
-
yeah, really. i've been to tons of metal/hardcore shows and have seen slayer a few times, and slayer crowds are ALWAYS the most violent, aggressive assholes. and this includes NYC.
-
Well, yes, the pit is always scary. Maybe I was just lucky.

Because I had to catch Metro plus I was just ready to go after that opening act.
-
Well the warm up act appears to have the stamp of approval of someone involved with SJATDK as they are on tour with them...
-
The opener played for about 45 minutes. I think they went on too long.

Doesn't sound like she went all that late to me. Midnight is the standard show-end time for the black cat.
-
I missed this show, but saw Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings last time they were at the Black Cat.
I really liked the opening act, the Budos Band. I probably would've liked Sharon Jones' performance more if it hadn't been so crowded and if the crowd had been nicer. I started out near the front but had to retreat back because people were just too aggressive.
So yeah, that left a sour taste in my mouth. And hearing that a fight was breaking out at Thursday's show doesn't surprise me.

Considering she was once a corrections officer at Sing Sing, doesn't surprise me that if a fight breaks out at her show that she will do something about it.
