UPDATED: 4:02 p.m. EDT June 25, 2003
SILVER SPRING, Md. -- Some Metro trains are delayed this evening after a car landed on the tracks near the Silver Spring Metro station.
The accident happened shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Investigators said the car crashed through a fence and crossed four MARC and Metro tracks. It finally came to a stop when it hit another fence. The car is still on the tracks.
Two people were in the car. One person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. There is no report on any injuries for the second person.
The Red Line Metro train is not running between Fort Totten and Silver Spring. A temporary bus route has been set up to carry passengers between the stations.
METRO SAID THE DELAYS WILL LAST HOURS!

Brother, she works in the same place as you...she's been trying to get to Dupont for a half hour - of course as she put it, she doesn't have much of an option.

Thanks Smackie. Looks like perhaps I'll walk home from work today.

well thanks then Smackie, I know where she works, you didnt say she had been delayed though.
Normally if there is a problem down one end they get things working on the rest of the line pretty quickly........
I think it would kill me to walk home.

Man, the one day of the week that I take the redline.
