Please complete the following sentence:
The best New Wave song ever is...{your reply here}

Hmm... tough one if only because that 'New Wave' tag usually gets placed on straight pop records.
The best New Wave song ever is, Whip It by Devo.
When I think of 'New Wave', I think of Devo or that 'Tainted Love' song. Everyone has heard those two songs at least once.

...Psycho Killer by The Talking Heads.

Mexican Radio by Wall Of Voodoo

I believe Dubya is using it for his re-election campaign this year.

I wish he would just wipe out everyone in the Middle East and bring the troops home by Xmas. If he killed ALL of the Arabs and Israelis, I might consider voting for him.

elvis's version clearly superior

I'll take anything by Nick Lowe over anything by Elvis Costello.
Elvis Costello is pukey. Always has been.

not altcountry enough?
-
He has done some countryish stuff, but I didn't care for it.
I remember he came in and dj'd on my college radio station almost 20 years ago, and said that his favorite American band was the GRateful Dead, for what that's worth.
I think I just hate his singing voice, his look, and his personality. I think I would probably hate whatever he put out, no matter the genre.

"Pop Music" M - well that was really the first one that I remember hearing, buying the 7" and listening to.

Never been a fan of Elvis Costello personally...his voice bugs the crap out of me. He sounds like a little boy going "na na nana na"
Although 'Allison' is a great song.

I think that 'This Year's Model' is one of the best ever rock albums, and the concerts (captured in bootleg form) he and the Attractions were putting on in the late 70s were unbelievably blinding.
