this may not be politically correct, but i'm fascinated by the pleas from the korean community (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/04/17/AR2007041701924.html?nav=rss_print/asection) to avoid "broad-brush racism" with the VT massacre when it seems as though "broadbrush racism" is very strong in korean culture (http://foreigndispatches.typepad.com/dispatches/2006/02/korean_racism_i.html)
obviously not every korean is racist and i'm obviously not suggesting any of this bastard's ethnic brethren should be blamed for anything ... but i'm a sucker for spotting hypocrisy, and this story just really grabbed me for some reason ... am i way off the mark here?

just because something is un-pc doesnt mean its wrong; youre right, but that hypocrisy could be said to exist in most if not all cultures.

like i said, maybe i'm way off base ... when i first learned about the hines ward story i read a lot about the issue and was pretty shocked, but maybe all that stuff is just way overblown

While I don't have nearly as much experience in South Korea as you do, I've been there twice, and I definitely saw some of what he's speaking of.

Hoya, based on your reasoning (if it can be called that), Americans would have no grounds to ever decry racism, given our long and continuing history of racial hatred.

You are not way off. I would agree with you.

just in the last year or two did the korean army begin to allow "mixed race" people into their ranks ... if this was america in the 1940s, you'd have a point

I know this is a creepy thing to have noticed, but does it bother anyone that, in his video, Cho sounds almost exactly like Napoleon Dynamite?
"You wanna rape us Debra LaFaves?"
