Title: Brickskellar closing?
Post by: redsock on October 01, 2008, 11:54:00 am
Anyone else heard this? Friend of a friend thing, I'm just hoping it isn't true. RFD is no match for the Skeller, which, of course, is practically in my Apt. building.

Wow.  This would suck.  A lot.

Yes, it would.

I can't believe they'd be closing...they're always packed on the weekends and generally seem to do pretty good business during the week.  Certainly possible though...

NRG group that owns Rustico in VA is opening a new place on 14th street where hamburger mary's/dakota cowgirl used to be.  The upstairs is going to be a beer bar with 500 bottles, 50 drafts and 5 casks. the beer will be good, fresh, and actually in stock, RFDs and the brickskellar will be unnecessary

Hardly unnecessary. Always nice to have new places to check out, but neighborhood bars are always necessary. Which is exactly what the Skellar is. Not a huge fan of RFD myself.

Wow, I haven't even thought about that place in 10 years.   Would be sad to see it go.
