Is this a good venue?! What else can you say about it?
-
Converted movie theatre. Sound is ok. Easy to get to. Plenty of free parking. Probably not the worst venue you'll ever go to.
-
I approve.

My favorite thing about Recher is that the room is longer than it is wide, so even though it's a fairly sizable space, being up close makes it feel a lot smaller.
Despite the drive, it is decent. I've hit a few shows there when I lived closer (White Stripes, Flaming Lips, Ween), and it was usually a pretty good time. Especially the beer carts by the side of the stage.

ok thanks...

Last time I was there I nearly choked on the smoke. Those days are almost gone, right?

I thought that only pertained to Baltimore City?
Edit:
I am wrong. The whole state (http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/local/baltimore_city/bal-te.md.smoking18may18,0,399337.story). Woooo!

i think the only shows i've seen at the recher are wilco shows and a pavement/white stripes show way back in the day, but i've always had a very good time. definitely helps to be up front, but the vibe is always a bit rowdy. i've seen wilco about 10 times and when they played there on the "mermaid ave. 2" tour that was by far the best i've seen them, and i think the venue had something to do with that.

was at that pavement show. . .my last pavement show. also, i had always thought that the white stripes were the first band that evening, and now someone else can verify it.

09/25/1999 ...I think 1999 was their very last year of touring.
