Ummm, so I signed up but I am a little confused by the whole thing. I put CDs on my "have" list and some on my "want" list. Question is: how do I go about telling people that I "want" a CD on my list? Do I go through their profile, check the CDs they "have", and send them a "blurb" ? This is very confusing...

i just signed up for this a few days ago as well, so maybe i can explain as a newbie better than a seasoned vet like kosmo. basically, once you have something on your "want" list, if somebody has that CD on their "have" list, they have the option is shipping it to you the second you put it on your "want" list. so don't put something your "want" list that you don't want, because you might get it. on the other hand, just because something is on your "have" list doesn't mean you have to ship it. you can bug people by messaging them, but it doesn't seem too necessary.
you have to build up credits to get stuff shipped to you, i think the first one is free but after that it's kind of a one-for-one thing.
that make any sense? i can't believe i got someone to take my copy of "pretty hate machine" already! and i got "thank you" by royal trux out of it, what a deal!

You don't have to do anything really; something in the lala database recognizes that you want ALBUM X and sees that several members are willing to trade it. Each of these members gets a notification, and the first to acknowledge they'll send you the disc is one that gets the trade.
BookerT has it right, though. The more you ship out, the more you get. And I don't think your first received CD will come until you ship at least one.

ok thanks guys... :)
I did get one email today about other members wanting some of my CDs, but I don't have the kit yet.
Enjoy your new shirt, nkotb ;)

ei you can agree to ship out before getting your kits happens all the time
so what are is your lala user id's? mines pretty obvious :)

i can also say that as long as you are actively sending out, you are more likely to get stuff sent your way. i'm not sending much at the moment and the CDs are trickling in. it's better to have +5 or higher CDs sent out vs trying to stay one for one.
also in general choosing to go artwork only tends to result in CDs arriving in better condition, even if does slow down your wants getting sent.
