Gee I wonder how Fiction Plane ended up on the schedule...
Fronted by singer/songwriter Joe Sumner -- who is the adult son of pop/rock superstar and former Police vocalist Sting -- Fiction Plane is a mostly British alternative pop/rock outfit that started to acquire a U.K. following in the early 2000s.
I recall seeing them with Paul Weller awhile back and thinking they were naught special.

An othewise decent lineup sullied by...Velvet Revolver. Why, God, whyyyy

Details:
White Stripes?? Jack White sells Indian Village house
April 22, 2007
ASSOCIATED PRESS
Garage-rock whiz Jack White cut one of his last ties to the Motor City when he sold his five-bedroom, 5,800-square-foot home in the old-money Indian Village neighborhood.
The Grammy-winning leader of the White Stripes and member of the Raconteurs sold the 93-year-old house to a retired couple from Maryland for $590,000, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

White, 31, paid $524,000 for the house in 2003, put it on the market last August for $930,000 and later cut the price to $650,000, the Journal said.
The house was designed by C. Howard Crane, best known as a movie palace architect whose works include the lavish Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit. Its oak paneling and damask wallpaper contrasts with the White Stripes?? signature red and white color scheme.
White now lives in Nashville with his wife and daughter. He told the Associated Press in a 2006 interview that he had to leave Detroit because he ??couldn??t take the negativity anymore.?

Indian Village is one of the few areas in Detroit where property is worth that much... it's a nice couple blocks of "historic" homes.

Well, eating my own words somewhat.. see you on Day 2. Maybe. $110+ per person to just see Interpol seems pretty shitty.
(does this mean we don't get Interpol anywhere else? sonofadlksdjflsdjlfjdsf. damnit.)
Tho I wonder .. for those who have been there before, is it possible to split a 2 day pass? ie: one person uses first day, one person uses second? bleh. I'm moving in the middle of July so I don't think there's any way in hell I can justify that much. sldkjsdljfs.
-
That's my gripe about V-Fest: taking club shows away from us so that the performer will be exclusively at the festival. Though my compaint is not about Interpol specifically.

Great lineup, Seth, and a fair price.
Day two seems a little better then day one, personally.

thanks
I appreciate that

No, thank you!
P.S. If you could see to it that IF Chris Cornell has to play the second stage he goes up against 311 or Wu Tang Clan, that'd be super for me.

it's a deal-breaker for me, sorry

I think overall it is a very fair price and there are some great bands going, Seth, it's just i know for me personally I can't justify paying -that price- for two or three bands. I'd gladly pay $50-60 at the 930 for Interpol alone, but to deal with traffic + downtime + festival + people (when you've worked too many festivals you tend to shy away from them.. that's the problem with working venues in my experience) it's very hard to justify. If that makes sense.
Me personally, I prefer club shows and smaller venues, and thusly would pay the price for those. I'm an enormous DMB fan and coughing up $150 for (notably, guaranteed awesome seats) Nissan might make it my last DMB show unless tickets go down.
I think it'll be a great fest and I wish you all the success in the world. I'm hoping I'll get to go, but if I can't, it's really solely about money over anything else.

M.I.A., Spoon, CSS, LCD Soundsystem, Girl Talk, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, Incubus, and Amy Winehouse...PLUS the Police?
Yeah. I'm sold.
-
It's 87/day. That's a pretty good price for all of the artists mentioned.
-
Are you going for the tickets that don't have extra fees tacked on?

last year i bought tickets at the merriweather box office, i dont know that there was a service charge at all, if so, it was like $1 a ticket.
930 club was also sellling virtually-service charge free tickets.

I think the line-up is fascinating. If I weren't going to be on vacation, I would go to V-Fest -- if only for the great people-watching potential that lineup brings.

Kinda like when I see The Feeling mentioned somewhere.
BTW, were I in the market for a car I would not get a Volvo. I love The Feelies but I don't want to here the same song every fifteen minutes.
