what a show
was there enough jam songs? well there can never be enough of those,
but was happy with the selection....
Weller and co played several of my fav solo songs, but no complaints here if he
plays them all three nights
while not generally a fan of long instrumental jams, we got a couple included in the set which I quite enjoyed. Then again when the band includes the very talented steve white on drums it makes for great listening.
having seen him go through the motions one too many times it was great
to see him actually enjoying a gig in the US
is the vip pass worth it? I guess since it would have the only way
for all the shows. minor problem half the club was sold vip and you
have to wait in line each night for will call....

I am not seeing "Going Underground" listed. This is a concern.
-
and its doubtful he'll be doing going underground anytime soon...
for the most part he's sticking with later jam material, and favors stuff that can be done acoustically i.e english rose, that's entertainment.
the fact a rickenbacker hasn't been played by him hints at the possibility early jam stuff is just not important to him anymore. on prior tours he often forgets jam song lyrics and one wonders if the songs included aren't there just to appease the audience....

Highlights for me tonight were Peacock Suit and Butterfly Collector. I bought a VIP pass + ticket from a scalper five minutes into the show for $30! ... What a difference a day makes. Great show.
-
hey froggy are you looking for a ticket for the show tonight? as a forum member is looking to sell an extra....

anyone know who Paolo Nuttini
is?
according to a write-up he's this widely popular scottish soul singer in town at the bowery ballroom... who ever he is, I've never seen such an awkward performance as he never really made eye contact with the audience....unless he was trying to read the song lyrics :D

There's a small factory someplace that seems to be churning out skinny, curly haired, very earnest singer songwriters at the moment; there's Paolo Nutini, James Morrison, and Mika, all of whom look basically alike and are pretty musically inoffensive.
I'm kind of surprised Amy Winehouse didn't pop up as a guest at one of the New York shows, since she's been a pretty frequent onstage guest of Weller's over the past few months and seems more musically compatible than Nutini.
-
Paolo Nutini was on heroin! He has his own sold out show tonight at Bowery Ballroom in NYC. His parents run a chip shop in Paisley, Scotland.
Apparently its all very cool at the moment to come from Scotland and have an Italian name ... The Fratellis are from Glasgow!!

No, these Fratellis ... http://www.apple.com/itunes/ads/partyanimated/ (http://www.apple.com/itunes/ads/partyanimated/)

who knew that the style council night would see the band playing with the most conviction... guess that's what happens when you import a bunch of brits to sing loudly along to TSC hits.
tonights show leaned a bit to heavy on the moodier solo material... weller was most passionate about tonights selections, singing more soulfully through out. craddock did some stellar acoustic work and there were a couple times one would swear white was going to punch holes in his drums...
repeat performance of butterfly collector and blistering version of thick as thieves
