Has anyone been to the Beacon Theatre in New York. I guess I'm wondering, are the directions easy? Parking? Hotels near by? Theres a show on October 2nd that I'm interested in but I don't know the area very well.
Thanks in advance.

I was there once to see Tom Waits back in '99. It's a really beautiful theater...great sound and comfortable seating. I highly recommend the Hotel Beacon next door. I've stayed there a couple of times and found the rooms to be reasonably priced for NYC. I think all rooms are suites with a kitchenette. Otherwise, there are hotels a little bit south in the times square area but I'm not sure what would be cheaper. When I saw Tom Waits, I stayed downtown and took the subway to the show...very convenient. Hope that helps...

Just know that hotels in NYC during the month of October are scarce because of the CMJ Marathon. It takes place in mid-October, but the hotels usually block off a lot of rooms for the bands, reocrd companies and other visitors.

I think there's a hotel directly above the Beacon Theater. A bit pricey, but you can't beat it for convenience. There's a subway stop on Broadway, maybe a block or two from the theater, so you could really stay anywhere in the city and be a quick train ride away.
Parking anywhere around there sucks. If you can find a spot on the street, you're all set. If you park in a garage nearby, be prepared to spend $30-40 for overnight parking.
I love The Beacon.

I've stayed at the Beacon Hotel a couple times, its nice and not that expensive in New York terms. I was there one time during one of them Soul Jams with like the Whispers and the Stylistics and two others. I didn't go.

Thanks for all the great advice so far. I guess since I've never really drove within NYC, just through it, I just wanted to know if its easy to get to. I mean, right off the exit? Or are there a whole bunch of side streets? Looks like I'm definetely going though.

Will you be dining at a fancy restaurant before the concert?

Nobu 54 should be open by then.

CMJ Marathon
Oh man, thanks for the head's up. I am possibly headed there that week. I was wondering why hotels were sold out. But, I might incorporate some of the marathon into my visit.

We werre able to get a hotel off of hotwire.com for a huge discount last year the weekend of CMJ. Booked just a few weeks before.
