Title: Vfest VIP tickets
Post by: kosmo vinyl on April 27, 2007, 06:33:00 pm
Since its been asked a couple time and i'm curious myself....  what will  vip tickets entail?  and can a couple single day ones be set aside for forum fanatics...  i'd like early entry in order to beat the traffic, a place to cool off and bottled water

I, too, am interested. Short of meet-and-greet's, though, I can't say I'll strongly consider it.

For me, the amenities better be pretty awesome to justify going from $175 to $450.

How'd you go from disinterested in the whole thing to willing to part with $250?

i never completely ruled out Vfest it's that the bands being leaked while interesting weren't quite enough to sway me, however lump all the worthy bands on one day and add in Cheap Trick whose last album  was generally great and Robin's pipes are still in tact, LCD Soundsystem who I've wanted to see but will miss due to Sloan being at the Black Cat.

VIP ticket appeal because Kosmette can't go due to work so I wont have to buy two, and the biggest bummer for me last year was not getting a good vantage point for the Who having  drifted towards the second stage in the afternoon, knowing there are VIP spots will help with being able to wander back and forth.

Oh bother.... Was all set to plunk down for a VIP ticket for the Saturday show when I looked up the event and found out they are only sold in pairs.  Is there any chance to get the hookup on buying a single VIP ticket? Pretty Please?

oh yeah the VIP benefits info is now at virginfestival.com,  the shuttle service between stages is a nice touch.

Yeah, I was disappointed about the pairs only thing two. I ddidn't recall seeing that information on the Virgin Festival website and didn't look at Ticketmaster's website since I was planning to buy the tickets at the box office. It was only when I went to the box office at Merriweather this morning that I found out that VIP tickets were only sold in pairs. So I could only buy two instead of the planned three.

What is the rationale for only selling VIP tickets in pairs? It seems to punish those people that are interested in going alone, or as in my case, in an odd numbered group.

Smashing Pumpkins website says this about VIP passes...

which includes VIP viewing areas at both stages, air conditioned chill lounge, complimentary premium parking, shuttle service around the track, event t-shirt, sponsor goody bag, and access to the Home Turn Festival After-Party on Saturday night

Be real careful of the so called "premium parking" passes....the one I purchased last year was an outright joke! I sure hope they get the parking straight this year. I paid for a 25 dollar pass for this year. I'm only going Saturday. Hope I don't have to park downtown and walk or something....damn....

First of all, I believe you get to sit next to Dupek for the duration of the event. Then Seth grants you a complimentary Dr. Pepper (diet or regular, your choice) between each performance. At the end of the event you are given a much sought after 930 T-shirt followed by a romantic candle-lit dinner for two with Josh, aka Thatguy.

i'm gonna be kinda sweaty after two festival days in august, but cuddling is an option if dinner goes well.

Ummm...unless something MAJOR has changed, "flushing toilets" (or handwashing stations) were NOT available in VIP last year (unless hidden away underneath Seth's and Richard's private "box").  In fact, I'd highly recommend VIP's still pack their own wipes and toilet paper too.  Air conditioning?  Not likely in the VIP plastic food/bar tent they had last year...There was NO seating for VIPs except a few dozen plastic chairs snagged early by the employees families.  The VIP parking would have been great IF the parking lot staff had only known where it was - or someone had thought to use signs.  Overall, Seth and Company have to upgrade VIP amenities over last year, or I doubt they'll sell well at the Third Annual event.  It was a rip.  Final suggestion:  Hand out those special VIP-t-shirts and goody bags toward the end of the event.  Dragging that crap around all day isn't fun unless you're bringing your butler. Despite overpaying, the music and the crowd was great.

If I remember correctly, you didn't need to be VIP to wash your hands.  I think they had those foot pump water washer thingees near all of the public port a johns.  I'm pretty sure they had sinks/toilets in the grandstand section as well.

Never found the handwashers and we got to all the stages...and how did you get inside the grandstand hall?  People were using some of the outside seating - and the concourse area for the roller girls derby - but the rest of the grandstand building was locked...or did we miss something?

This question isn't really related to the topic, but does anyone have a guess as to who is headlining the South stage on Day 1? I know it's far too early to know, but there's nothing wrong with speculation.

Last year, The Flaming Lips headlined opposite the Red Hot Chili Peppers. This year, 311 is headlining the South stage on Day 2 opposite the Smashing Pumpkins (as confirmed on 311.com). I have no clue who headlines the South Stage on Day 1, though. Maybe Modest Mouse?

Modest Mouse is correct for 500
