"you give love a bad name" - atreyu
i must say i just bought the new atreyu cd a couple days ago and believe their cover of this song is simply amazing. i hate bon jovi except for the cool drum noise before the chorus of its my life....
i won't bore you with my well written review of the cd because none of you care but check out the fucking song.
finally something has replaced somebody told me by the killers....it's not confidential i like that song, does this mean i have potential?..hehehee
-
Flawd, I hated that song the first itme it came out, I can't see how it could be any better now.
-
I have that Bon Jovi tune,
"Your love is like bad venison, Bad venison is what I need."
-
That song from Jet is now in every commercial and it's on 121% of all radio stations.
Dave Barry said several years ago that when a guitar is thrown off a cliff it plays "Gloria" as it bounces off the rocks ("'Gloria' is so easy to play..."). Now it plays Jet.
The neighborhood mockingbird? Sings Jet.
The Weatherbug alert sound is now Jet.
The 11 O'clock news theme is now Jet.
..... Jet ..... Jet ...... Jet .....
[sound of gunshot]
[sound of body falling to floor]

Wow, there is a Mr. Brightside for you yet. ;)
Has anyone else noticed that Flawd's writing has gotten better since school let out? Of course, there's still always a Persian Flawd somewhere just to prove that Daddy Rhett or some other loon didn't steal his password. :p
-
hey flawd, you know age of ruin has been covering that song at their shows long before atreyu. I don't think its a coincidence either, since they completely rip off "for the soul of the savior" by darkest hour (another local band) on the new album also.

Haha. A friend asked me a couple of months ago what shows I have been to (he's not a show goer) and I listed some, one being Jet. He said, "Jet??? Wow!" I gave him a quizzical look, as to why he was so excited for me. He said, "Well, they have a song on a commercial." It brought to my attention the affect of marketing among the masses. And explains the crowd at the concert.
-
I'm going next weekend to NYC to see Sloan open for Jet...it will be interesting to see both the crowd and how long I hold out. I got the album from a friend, since I'm going, but still haven't listened to it. Whenever I start, I switch to AC/DC.... ;)
-
Most recently, it was Killing Joke's "Europe." Before that it was Moose's "I Wanted To See You To See If I Wanted You."
Both of these songs just wouldn't leave my head! For the first day or so it was OK but then it became seemingly unbearable. :)

I will agree that as soon as i saw this topic , i thought of JET.
look, when we got this advance CD at my work last year. WELL before it was on any radio station or anything like that. I heard this song and thought...."this sounds like the theme song to some bad TV show" like i thought it was going to be the theme to the 21st century version of 21 Jumpstreet.
whatever, this song is played more often than that Nelly song was 2 years ago.
its a crappy song. a crappy band. and they just comfirm that Austrailia and New Zealand (whichever one they are from) dont put out very many good bands. I cant think of one (INXS and Midnight Oil are NOT good bands and neither are the Datsuns or Silverchair).
the weatherbug theme song is Jet? how odd.

crowded house. yeah, ok, we got one. Actually, I liked Split Enz better.
the clean, and the church...no and no.
AC/DC is good, forgot about them
and isnt Nick Cave from Austrailia?

From what I've heard of it, I would agree it's the weakest of the three. But they are still a great live band.

>>> Midnight Oil was one of the best live bands EVER!.....and Silverchair are one of the worse bands EVER....another couple bands from Australia who were great live were Hunters & Collectors and of course, The Celibate Rifles....

I'll second that.

Yes, Midnight Oil - definitely one of the best live bands, that is for sure! Both times I saw them (1990) and then (when was it? - one of their last shows at the 9:30 Club - I am thinking 2001/2002) it was fantastic!
More bands from Australia (that I've not yet seen listed in this thread) - The Go-Betweens, Real Life and Ikon.
P.S. And I love INXS - so there. ;)
Cheers

>>>There is nothing wrong with liking INXS.....early material was best and I had a chance to see them before the "Kick" pandemonium set in....I'm not gay,but Michael Hutchence knew how to get the place steamy, that's for sure....great showman and solid singer....I saw the Oils 5 times,,,,the 2 9:30 club appearances recntly ,twice on the "Diesel & Dust" tour and of course at the State Theatre in Sydney.....goddamn that was on fire!.....almost forgot one of my guilty pleasures......another Aussie export....ICEHOUSE!

I just saw "Touching The Void" which is movie about mountain climbing. This one guy in the movie is on the verge of death and, much to his chagrin, has a song which he identifies as being a Boney M song stuck in his head. Much to my chagrin it has been stuck in my head now for a week. And I have never even really heard the song.

and 18 visions....i'm not that big of a FATA fan...but hopefully they will di heavei songs, and come here
i knew age of ruin covered the song but never got to hear it...and i don't listen to darkest hour that much besides on mix cds i created...but i think atreyu lost guitars on the new cd...but i still enjoy atreyu's you give love a bad name.
vansmack...it sounds better this time....
that jet songs drives me fuckin nuts. i wish they would crash their bus into nickelback's and both buses would roll off a bridge and explode killing both bands, three edolphins, 18 fish and a seahorse.

Has anyone else noticed that Flawd's writing has gotten better since school let out? [/QB]
One second back at college after summer break, my vocabulary would change. F this, f that. It's crazy how I could turn it on and off. And I'm sure I said, "dude" a lot more too. ;)
"You say she's just a friend, you say she's just a friend, oh baby, YOU got what I neeeeeed" has been in my head for a few days. Dunno where that invasion came from.
Couple years ago, for weeks on end, I couldn't get No Doubt's song, "Hey baby, hey baby, hey! Girls say, Boys say" outta my head. Argh - painful then, painful to type that verse now.
oh and sonick - muzak version? that is overkill.
-
Off subject but a sub topic within this thread, bands from Down Under that I like that haven't already been listed:
Bailter Space
The Absolutes
The Lucksmiths
Decoder Ring
The Scientists (Are they from DU? I might be upside down.)
I'm still trying to make up my mind on Tumbleweed. Need to hear more.
Oh, and yes, the fabulous Nick Cave is from Australia but not necessarily The Bad Seeds. I know that Blixa Bargeld is from Germany and not even with them anymore since he's concentrating on EN.
-
right now it's the old crow medicine show with "wagon wheel"
i can not get enough of it

Radio Birdman, The Saints.
