One thing that always bugged me about the finale of Return of The Jedi (aside from the fact that the Ewoks survived) is that Anakin Skywalker's ghost is just chilling out with Yoda and Obi Wan's spirits by the campfire as if all is right in the world. This is like Hitler having picnic with Anne Frank. Think about it, this is a guy who killed at least 20 children in Episode III, was responsible for a mass genocide when The Death Star blew up Alderaan in Episode IV, caused his wife's death, tortured his own daughter, killed Obi Wan Kenobi, and who knows how many hapless Imperial officers who were the victim of his "force-choke". Not to mention he cut his own son's hand off! Now at the end of Jedi, his ONLY act of redemption is that he throws The Emperor into a reactor shaft (which was just as much of a survival move as The Emperor was trying to kill him, too). In his dying moments, he asks Luke to take his mask off so he can see him with his own eyes, then passes away without even muttering a simple apology. For this, he gets the same afterlife status as Yoda and Ben. Personally, I think he gets off too easy. Was George Lucas trying to show that there really is no true evil in the world, just misguided deeds?

But tossing the Emperor destroyed the ultimate evil in the universe. That's gotta count for something, right? If GWB personally put a bullet in Osama's skull, wouldn't you forgive him for all of his misdeeds?

In Episode IV, there's a memorable scene in which R2D2 is playing some sort of 3D holographic space chess with Chewbacca onboard The Millennium Falcon. R2 is pretty much handing Chewie his wookie ass on a platter, when Chewbacca barks in protest. Han Solo tells the robots that it's not wise to upset a wookie and that they risk having their arms pulled out, which prompts C3P0 to advise R2 to "let the wookie win!" What bothers me about this scene is that Chewbacca can clearly hear Han telling them this. Either he's too dumb to let it soak in that Han's actually talking about him, or he totally enjoys the thrill of winning at chess knowing the other part deliberately threw the game. Or perhaps this is just some joke Han and Chewie play on everyone who boards their ship. What's even funnier is the reality that Han and Chewie most certainly have played the chess game together on those long trips alone. I wonder who let's who win then?

I too had the same question until Lucas made Episode's I,II, and III. Then it all made sense. I agree, he made good for his past sins - he destroyed the Ultimate Evil, the same Evil that made him turn to the dark side. He also ended the run of Sith lords. You didn't sense there was good in Vader?
