My pick is:
Of Montreal's Hissing Fauna..
Yours?
-
The new Bloc Party is incredible...
and the new Idlewild is just like their earlier stuff - which is a good thing.
-
I haven't bought a single album in 2007, but I'm going to go with the Broken West, based on what I've heard.
I also like what I've heard of the new Peter Bjorn and John as well as Fratellis albums, but I think they don't come out here until March.
-
Even though it officially came out the other day, I'm sticking with "Wincing the Night Away."
-
The new Papercuts album is probably my favorite. Although I don't think it's officially released until February.
-
Only January 07 album I have heard is the new Menomena, and it gets the thumbs up from me.
-
I've heard the new Field Music, CYHSY, and Youth Group. Field Music is my fav of those three.
I assume Bloc Party, Idlewild, and the Magic Numbers will make some February 2007 Best Of lists (assuming US release dates).
-
anyone know where i can listen to the new bloc party? maybe download it?
-
Cool thread. Monthly recaps are always helpful. I haven't bought any 07 release due to the cheap Tower purchases. I plan go get Beirut, Menomena and The Good, The Bad and The Queen (I think that came out in Jan).
-
my favorite song of the month is
Welcome To My Room
by Vietnam

A bit too Franklin Covey for me. (I'm still contemplating: "Best Albums in this decade, but you have four more years to go" thread.) ;)
-
the vietnam album probably gets my vote, although i prefer "priest, poet & the pig" when it comes to favorite song. david kilgour's new one is also pretty solid.

Me too.

"Of Montreal" was the first thing that came to mind upon clicking on this thread.
Apples In Stereo is my February pic for now.
-
I totally agree with the fisrt and last posts on this thread...OM is the king of January and I can't wait for the Apples.
Viva Elephant 6!
-
I really like the new Of Montreal, but I fall more and more in love with the new Shins every time I listen to it. Wincing the Night Away definitely gets my vote.
I can't wait to hear the new Youth Group, though.
-
Of Montreal is good
I must download the David Gilgour
The new Kristin Hersh is also very good
-
I heard a god awful song from the new CYHSY while shopping at Virgin Store in NYC it had the most annoying use of cowbell ever... Also heard "Man I Hate Your Band" by Little Man Tate that was pretty cool wonder when they have something coming out in the US.

The VietNam CD. Came out on 1/23/07...had trouble finding it, but eventually found a copy in that little music shop on Connecticut Ave.
-
The new Bloc Party is a big disappointment...
-
Vietnam opened for the Lemonheads at the Black Cat in December...
