ola Kosmo -

I only got to see Kitchener - was really good (you do that one?) - Had to rush home for a family emergency so I missed London. Hamilton was maybe my favorite set list of the Canadian shows.

Made up for it tho by catching the Pittsburgh Rolling Stones gig & then going to Philadelphia on Monday night. What a treat. Check out this set list - tons of rarities:

 PHILADELPHIA 10/5/05
Set: Wash, Hail Hail, Brain Of J, Spin The Black Circle, Given To Fly, Sad, Alone, Even Flow, Green Disease, Faithfull, Whipping, Not For You, Leatherman, Betterman, Nothingman, Once, Bleed For Me, Blood

Encore 1: Around The Bend, Harvest Moon (w/Sleater-Kinney), Hard To Imagine, Crown Of Thorns, Crazy Mary, Alive

Encore 2: Last Kiss, In My Tree, Do The Evolution, Sonic Reducer, Little Sister (Elvis Presley cover), Leaving Here (w/Sleater-Kinney), Rockin' In The Free World (w/Sleater-Kinney), Yellow Ledbetter

It's almost worth $1k to see them sing Thank You & Fool in the Rain with Robert Plant. Almost.

only caught London and Hamilton... the guy who bought my extra ticket said the Kitchner show was the second best PJ show he'd ever been too...  The Hamilton show was a good setlist for me as well!

Kitchener was incredible - I'm letting it sit for awhile before I figure out exactly where it fits on my list - but, wow: tiny venue & still the loudest crowd I've ever heard. PM me your addy & I'll send you the boot. I've got London too for your listening pleasure.

Saw the Stones last night in Charlottesville. About an hour in, Mick says, "uhh, we have to take  a 10 minute break.  (crowd goes boo hiss).  But the authorities are forcing us, it's  a technical issue. We'll be back."  Then....the bomb sniffing dogs come out on stage.  Then they cleared all of us off the first section floor seats (def like trying to herd cattle, it was a bit of chaos).  Yup, a bomb threat.  Not fun.  Show was delayed an hour while they checked the stage.  They didn't tell us any of this, but it was clear that they were looking for something on the stage.  Anyway, they came back out, Mick said "Thanks for your patience.  The police made us leave."  And the show continued.  Very weird to be there while you knew some crackpot had called in a bomb threat.

Anyway, fantastic stage, fantastic sound, but they are OLD.  Everytime the Jumbotron showed a closeup up Mick, Ron, or Keef I cringed.  They are very, very OLD and their faces looks like masks.

Yeah, I was at the show in Charlottesville too.  The bomb threat was nervewracking.

I also thought they looked old; I think the Stones have sort of resorted to absolute spectacle to distract from the fact that they aren't as tight as they used to be (well, of course not, but you know what I mean).  I was blown away by Jagger's energy, however.  The band just didn't sound very tight - particularly noticable during Paint It Black.

But all in all, a blast.  Glad that I was able to see them.

I was at teh Cville show as well.  3rd row on the floor in front of Keith.  When Mic said "We are having technical difficulties and need to take a 10 minute intermission", it originally looked to be part of the gig.  The band calmly walked off stage and then all the lights came on and we knew somethign was up.  State troopers with sniffer dogs came out and we all knew what was up.  It was about then that the security started moving us all back "25 yards".  Everything went very smoothly as the security and police did a hell of a job keeping things chilled out.  Stones came back and played their enitre show even though they were about an hour or more past the noise curfew.

Yeah I almost didnt go to CVille because I had seen some of the set lists and well...  Lets just say i am damn glad I went now.  That has to be the best set list so far on the tour.  My kid liked the show a lot.  Kept telling me "I know this song but I didnt know who did it".  He wasn't too sure how to deal with the bomb threat but what the hell all in the life of rock and roll!
