what are my options? (please post them below)
-
metro to vienna, then a cab, or a metro bus to george mason. if you know someone that has a george mason card and sort of looks like you, the geore mason bus is cheapy cheap.
-
Yeah, been there done that. Problem is at the end of the show it'll be hard to get a cab. Really hard. If it is a weekday night metro might be closed before you can get a cab, leaving you with a $35 cab fare....
I figured renting a car for the night would be cheaper and easier.

or catch a ride with someone going to the show... i'd offer but am planning on leaving for the show in the early afternoon before rush hour starts and will be chilling in NOVA before the show starts

thanks for the info (renting a car is definitely not an option). fuck, i don't even really want to go to this show.
hopefully beck isn't doing 2+ hour sets these days.

Getting out there is not such a problem... metro to West Falls Church or Vienna and you can take a Fairfax Connector (or GMU Shuttle) there. By the time you get to the end of the orange line there's usually a big enough crowd of obvious concert goers you can fall in with them.
Getting back though is a problem. Your best bet is hitching a ride in the parking lot. Even calling a taxi is useless, unless you arrange before the show for one to pick you up afterward.
A few years ago at a Beck show there, my friend (who had a cast on his leg) and I tried for an hour to get a taxi, but every time one showed up, someone else would take it. So, we hobbled a mile down one of the Fairfax Co. roads into a strip mall where there was some Chilis-type Tex Mex bar restaurant and called a cab from there. By the time the cab showed up -- another hour later -- the bar had closed and we had to sit on the curb. Also, during the hike over to the bar, we had picked up two other strangers (one of which was an exchange student from Argentina who spoke very poor English and was trying to get to Rockville, MD, while we were going to Adams Morgan).
An interesting night, but one that made me avoid the Patriot Center until I got a car of my own.

Take the CUE Bus from Vienna and back to the show.
Here is the schedule. It'll be fine for getting you back and forth...assuming the concert doesn't end past 11PM

Some people are probably too lazy to walk all the way across campus from the Pat Center to the CUE bus stop.

they have a party bus that's going to the patriot center for the beck show. i'm not sure how many other shows provide such a great service.

i inquired about party bus yesterday. the package they offer is $45 and includes the ticket. i told the guy we already have our tickets and if they can charge something lower just for the ride to/from.. supposed to hear back today.

i was thinking along the lines of gathering enough elistist pricks together and hiring a bus on ones own...
