Fascinating.  did you pick the winner (if it's the same...).  I was surprised -- thought Raveonettes had the biggest hype.

Aren't all of those bands really the same band though?
 
 I thought the Thorns were the best new band.

Rhett, you're the first person I've heard of who likes the Thorns.  I've heard it's very dour, slow, and a tad boring.  What am I missing (written with true curiosity)?

 Two of my friends who saw them last night like them. But they are both freinds who are either completely open minded, or are lacking any amount of discriminatory powers, or both.

Woops, sorry Rhett.  I haven't been on the Board in over a week, so I'm not up on the many convos.  That, plus I can't quite figure out your musical proclivities (though I know they tend to the alt.country, right?  And that's probably a term that drives you nuts.....)
