how do i get there via metro?
-
I think it's geographically closer to Dupont but I'd go to the Woodley/Adams-Morgan stop. 15 minute walk or take the short bus (98) across the Ellington bridge (Calvert St) and down 18th. It's between Belmont and Kalorama on the right.
-
thanks!!
-
Honestly I think it's easier from the Dupont stop. Get off at the side that isn't on the circle, turn right, walk to 18th St NW, turn left onto there, then just walk to Crooked Beat, it will be on the left side of the road if you go that way. It's shorter, I think.

none of those maps help me...i keep going and looking for the damn place and getting lost...
i went today and made a left on 18th and followed it...i ended up by The Guitar Shop and that Burberry store and figured i was out of the way and gave up because it was pretty gross out.
i called my friend though, he suspected it was near 18th and U...is that right? is it kind of up the street a ways from the gay bar?
-
From 18th and U, keep going north on 18th another three and a half blocks. It's on the left, downstairs.

i kind of went around some long way NOT from dupont circle...and didn't have the address...yeah it was a pretty bad idea...
-
it's right in the middle of adams morgan i think the blue room is directly opposite it.
But it's easy to miss......it's where madams organ originally was located. Hope you find it.

if you were at the burberry store and that guitar store, you weren't even on 18th.
-
noo, i had definitely been on 18th. we just turned there, cause we suspected we were going in the wrong direction and saw stuff.

you may have been, but those stores are on connecticut (at least the burberry store is). however, you initial thought was right- you were going in the wrong direction.
-
it's been one of those days...
-
From Dupont, walk up 18th St. away from the Washington Monument.
-
Sometimes it's worth it to just pay a cab to take you to a place you've never been. Then you will always know where it's at after that.
-
that is NOT a bad idea.
-
i always feel like it's faster to walk there from u street station than adams morgan
-
When you're walking up 18th street, look for Maggie Moo's, which is kind of hard to miss. It's bright pink with black and white cow walls outside. Crooked Beat is right before it, downstairs.

WMATA's Trip Planner doesn't help you? It's one of the best features of the whole Metro system, great piece of software ... that, combined with the Station Masters maps, is about all you need

I am going to forward this thread to the admissions office at Brown.

Hey. I'm just, on occasion, "directionally challenged." I'm used walking Los Angeles streets...everything there is a grid...
-
dc is a grid too!
numbered streets go north/south, lettered streets go east/west, and roads named after states go diaganol.

i have heard dc aptly described as a grid with a wagon wheel laid over it (or under it).
can we start a thread on the biggest fucking pain the ass one way street in town? i think i found them all while the greatest road in world, rock creek parkway, was closed for one week.

rock creek parkway is just fantastic ... i can go from my house in DC to national airport in 10 minutes while travelling on maybe 100 yds total of non-highway streets ... i don't understand why more people don't use it, and i also don't understand why google maps or mapquest or yahoo maps can't integrate it into their direction systems

Because it can be very confusing if you don't already know exactly where you're going. Once you figure it out - it's great.
