The Spacious Mind
Tuesday, October 4th, 11pm - 2am
on Bill Zurat's show
The Spacious Mind drop by the WFMU studios during their
first extensive US tour. Hailing just 150 miles outside
the Arctic Circle, The Spacious Mind deliver a unique
blend of psychedelic jams and improvised prog rock.
Don't miss this Swedish outfit prove that the Finns
aren't the only ones who can generate great psych music
within the region.

that's awesome...i booked them at DC9 a month ago and they played their arctic hearts and asses off for the 15 people who were there. i thought were even better than their fellow countrymen dungen.
-
dug these guys. they put me in a wierd state of ominous euphoria. kinda like a lot of the dark ambient music i listen to nowadays, but more inspired by the early 70s space jams like pink floyd's concerts from that era. i'm talkin post barrett, pre-dark side. the crucial shit.
-
exactly, "meddle"-era, along with ash ra tempel and some can. space jams without the fat and noodle.
-
Scheduling snafu,it starts at midnight
-
i'm tuned in. this jam is so sweet. i think they're playing the same set i saw last month. i had to leave early and missed the climax so hopefully this time I'll get to hear it

what radio stations are there that one can get in around arlington-dc area?
of those stations that i know here in dc listening area there's only 3 corporate stations:
94.7 "classic rock" same old barf over and over
97.9 "98 rock" [baltimore [the ugly step-sister to dc]] prone to playin bon jersey yet they consider themsleves a metal station.
101.1 dc 101 some new stuff mostly from whining mamas boy bands tho.
ive never lived in a city w such limited and lousy radio. not boston, providence, nj/nyc, london. er um yes i have: miami, boca, nashville.
are there any college or other stations playing cutting edge stuff that 1 can pik up?
-
nope. WMUC (maryland) is pretty good, but you can't get it two miles past the campus. DC radio sucks ass.
-
Would you say they played like Arctic Monkeys?
