Title: The Grammy Awards
Post by: Sage 703 on February 11, 2007, 09:15:00 pm
Running commentary anybody?

I thought the Police were better than expected, but still kind of boring...

I thought the Police were pretty excellent.  I'm almost willing to give Sting a pass for being such a twat for the past 15 years.

Right after that Jamie Foxx came out and absolutely sucked the life out of the show.  Everything else has been a trainwreck.  Dixie Chicks, Black Eyed Peas, Mary J. Blige, Justin, etc...

Police were good.  Thank God they didn't do one of those medley things and just rocked out on a great song.  After seeing the upcoming talent as they were going to a commercial, I've decided to go to bed.

Booker T. and the MG's Lifetime Achievement Award was presented by the Black-Eyed Peas. Worst Grammy indignity in years.

Is the Rascal Flatts singer the fat guy who screams like a girl in those credit card commercials?

Holy shit! Ornette Coleman is on to accept his lifetime achievement award and as a presenter. That's the first time I've ever heard him talk, even after seeing him live.

With that suit he looked more like Ornate Coleman.

This "Grammy Idol" contest is a fix. She's already signed and probably has a record deal. What a sham!

I turned it off when Beyonce started performing.  The Police and The Dixie Chicks were both awesome enough.

 And Jamie Foxx was terrible.

I agree.  I only saw Justin Timberlake's performance...I couldn't take anything else after that.

Was glad to see that the Flaming Lips won best engineered album though.

Unrelated topic (and sorry to hi-jack a post), but I have a question for sonick.  Do you ever frequent the Gin Mill? I was there for a friend's engagement party on Friday night, and there was a guy that resembled you (at least the pictures of your that Dupek regularly posts).  Just curious.

ummm...ok.  first of all.  i have been to the Gin Mill yes, frequently, maybe not, but i was at Sonar on Friday night, so that was not me.

secondly, i do not know which picture you are referring to, but i dont believe Dupek has a picture of me, and i have never seen him post one, so whichever one you are referring to, thats not even me.  :)

but i am curious to see that picture now!

Oh really?  I thought, back when he was posting those phony motivational poster images way back when that he has a photo of you smooching on your lady friend that he used.  You have a fairly long goatee, right?  Man, if you didn't know about Dupek's obsession with saving any and all photos to his photobucket site, you're going to be in for a surprise!

Also, it was Saturday night, not Friday.  Not sure that makes any difference.

Has video for The Police performance shown up online? I missed it. I only caught part of the Dixie Chicks. Natalie sorta bugs me, but that woman can sing. In comparison with other artist's past Grammy performances, not too shabby.

tee - haven't seen it online yet, been poking around for it between trying to get work done here.

please let us know if you (or anyone else) comes across it.  what network were the grammys on?  wouldn't they have some sort of a playback/recap/highlights thingy on their website?

The Gin Mill is a perfect outdoor drinking place on a warm summer night.  The Grammys were on CBS.
