Title: the Amazon.com game
Post by: sonickteam2 on October 07, 2005, 01:39:00 pm
I play this sometimes over email with my strange Canuck friends....paste a description of something totally strange and see who can guess who/what album it is about.

   this one is simply hilarious:

 Editorial Reviews

 Album Description

He was the man who defined a generation with his soulful voice and boy next door good looks. Now multi-million selling boy wonder ________ is back with his incredible album, a distinguished collection of classic songs sung to perfection by a voice that is once heard, never forgotten. The album boasts a well thought out selection of beautiful, timeless songs.

can you guess who this is?

I thought the game was going to be to see what Amazon recommends to you based on your past purchases...though I suppose it's not all that funny.  In fact, I usually have 80% of their recommendations.

i thought this would be to find the silliest review of a record posted by someone on amazon... was thinking of starting one of those, seeing as clueless people are allowed to share their opinions.

 i.e.

Trenchtown Days: The Birth of a Legend
 Bob Marley

"i got this cd, thinking it would be more like his newer (old) reggae, and to me, it totally wasn't. I don't like this cd at all, and i'm going to re-sell it."

 Or this gem

 The Stooges

 "Pretty Awful Album"
Let me say first that Fun House by The Stooges is on my Top 10 CD list. And Raw Power is right up there. Plus I love Iggy Pop. And I listen to lots and lots of different music. Bought this mainly for consistency's sake. Bit of advice if you haven't heard Funhouse, get this first and work your way to Funhouse. If you get way into Funhouse first, this album will be a real big let down. Actually, do yourself a favor, download I Wanna Be your Dog, Real Cool Time, and Little Doll from iTunes or something. The rest of the tunes on this album are pretty bad and irrelevant. Then go buy the Rhino remastered Funhouse and Iggy's remix of Raw Power. The difference between this album and Funhouse sounds like two different bands. They can hardly play their instruments on this album and Iggy sounds pretty tame. Some of the solos are just god awful. Sorry, but Funhouse just rules The Stooges roost

Joey??  (NKOTB) huh??  wtf?

 following kosmo's lead...

 [London Calling - The Clash]

WELL, THIS IS REAL PUNK ROCK!!!, June 28, 2005
 A Kid's Review
This is the ROOTS of punk rock. punk rock isn't Blink182, Green Day, Sum 41, Good Charlotte, this is Punk pop. This isn't New Metal like Evanescence, Lost Prophets, ou Limp Bizkit.

This is a real album. An album that really SUCKS!!!!!

This is some real music, for 40 year old people who like to listen to a song where you can't tell who's singing, if it's the vocalist, or if it's a cat screming inside someone's ass. The whole thing is horrid, the songs are lame. it isn't enjoyable to listen at all - you'll just hope it gets finished soon.

Honestly, any other band that I said before is better than them. THe Clash, Dead Kennedys. Doens't matter if that was real punk rock - it SUCKED! Ramones, and even Sex Pistols (artifficialy made) are way better. A lot of popular bands for 13-year old boys are better.

Just face it, this stuff is old, and decadent. And this never has been good. Wake Up

the world is full of ritalin cases

and you know an artists career is on it's last gasp of breathe, when the album of classics gets shoved out the door.  funny thing is that American Idol Justin has already gone that route.

Another classic

 Firefly

 Have you seen and liked:

 Titan A.E.
 Alien 5 - Resurrection
 Buffy Vampire Slayer TV Series
 Angel TV Series

If you answered yes to ANY of those terrible TV shows, Lame tired remake of Alien and stupid forgettable animated feature film.. You have been been brain washed by Joss Whedon. (Fox Hack Writer)

For all the Joss fans.. look down at your black Nike tennis shoes. You have been caught up in a cult! This is NOT great TV. They canceled the series because it was BAD. Get over yourselfs!

"Firefly" is Cowboys in space. They have wide eyed pretty boys and fit pretty girls that shoot guns and ride around in a silly space ship called Serenity. Hang on tight because there is enough of the Nike Wearing fools for Fox to make a Movie out of this mess. DVD sell through must be widely anticipated.

Joss has taken the "Science" out of this fiction. He has created a universe that:

 Has no aliens
Lots of new Tera formed planets (Created by Magic)
 Horses
 Cows
 Horse riding Bandits
 Evil Government Thugs
A prostitute character that is completely silly..
That brown girl from cheesy "Cleopatra 2525" TV Show
A big pretend Space Ship set
And they swear in Mandarin Chinese. (because its cool)

So if you are waiting for HaleBop to come around again and simply loved Buffy and Angel... Firefly is for you.

 Yech!

More Gems  This time it's "Singles Going Steady"

the songs drift on aimlessly, never grabbing my attention. the production sounds dated, the melodies weak and the whole cd has since been turned in for better music.

After hearing "What Do I Get?" in a Toyota Rav4 commercial, I absolutely fell in love with it and spent about a year searching for it. I didn't know who it was by, and when I finally found the Buzzcocks album it was on, I realized I'd never heard of them. Funny, because at the time I was a die-hard Sex Pistols fan and they're in a similar league, but I has a rather novice punk fan (I was only 12), and the band was unfamiliar to me. When I brought the CD home and listened to it, my heart rejoiced at hearing that snotty, high-powered pop punk anthem in full...I guarantee that any old school punk-listener will find What Do I Get? very good. There are a few other good songs on this compilation, like "Orgasm Addict," "Everybody's Happy Nowadays," and "Autonomy." Otherwise, the music begins to turn into a poppy mass of British drivel. Considering the low price, it is worth it to buy the album, but there is a considerable amount of filler material. I just hope you're into the strangely familiar-sounding "Everybody's..." or the schoolboy-horny "Orgasm Addict"...and to bring back that warm fuzzy punky feeling you got when you saw that car ad, turn "What Do I Get?" up to full blast and repeat, repeat, repeat.

I bought this album because I was told that it was a definitive punk masterpiece, but Ive owned for at least a year and a half and I still dont really see why. It doesnt really have great pop hooks OR the true energy of punk, only superficial impersonations of both. The great song, in my opinion, is "i dont mind", but other that that, i dont really listen to it. If you want a band that mixes upbeat pop with punk, go for the Ramones' "All the Stuff and More" collections. Its a lot more satisfying.

The Smiths - Meat Is Murder
Not even How Soon is Now is on the same level as the band's best work. The song just drags on forever. Well I Wonder is along the lines of I Know It's Over from the Queen is Dead, but not as good.

The Beautiful South - Carry On Up The Charts

Extremely popular in the UK on its release. Speaks volumes about the British national character. Listen to this if you want to become completely dispirited and suicidal. The lyrics "cut like knife", yeah, a harikari knife.

I think we have a winner

The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead

 WHO ARE THE SMITHS????????,

Someone gave me this album said "It will change your life"

It did I needed months of rehab to get over the awlfullness of this album, that singer can't remember his name, he can't sing, give me Bon Jovi any day.

Also where are the meaningful lyrics "Now I know how joan of Arc felt" What the????

 Give me Celine Dion anyday!!!!!!

She is the queen of Lyrics "Near far whereever you are"BRILLIANT!!!!!!!

That guy from The Smyths could only dream of lyrics like this!!!!!

 FACT

Also get into acts like Good Charlotte, Busted, and Mcfly, these are the true and greatest genius's of music, this is just whingy noise, not music.

Also buy U2's lastest album, it is MILES BETTER than this

 TRUST ME

pop Idol is the future, this should be left to gather dust in the past!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 P.S

 The E stands for Expert!!!!!!

 SEE YA

He's correct about the singing.  Whitney Houston & Celine Dion are waybetter.  I think the author's real name is Bateman.
