Why wasn't this mentioned sooner anywhere (i.e. here or Pitchfork)? In combo with the show being at Stacatto, not a venue whose schedule I ever check, I had no idea.
I randomly went to his web site today for the first time in months and lo and behold, all the way from Vancouver, Aug. 5 @ Stacatto.
Anyway, I can't go ... but y'all should as he's one of the best singer-songwriters we've got.

Yes, amazing that there has been no mention. Joel RL Phelps! His tenure with Silkworm was, in my view, the classic period of that band---Libertine remains the definitive 'worm statement. About five years ago, I saw Phelps and an early version of the Downer Trio play an amazing show at the Galaxy Hut for about seven people. Anyone who can make it tonight most probably won't regret it.

I have never been to this place before - but I am interested in seeing Phelps again. Any idea what time the show will begin and/or the price?

this is truly bizarre. i've never heard of an interesting national act playing at staccato. i wouldn't have been able to make it tonight anyway. i wanted to see him last night in baltimore but i went to see amps for christ instead.
has anybody heard about michael dahlquist of silkworm getting killed a few weeks ago by a suicidal woman? it's completely sad. silkworm is thus no longer.
i always thought silkworm, especially with phelps, were one of the most underrated bands of the '90s.

Yes, someone posted an article here about it. Very sad indeed.
Or am I confusing my boards again?
