Title: Sean Penn
Post by: Charlie Nakatestes, Japanese Golfer on February 25, 2004, 12:21:00 pm
Let's quickly shoot down the notion that Sean Penn is a cool guy...

During downtime Friday night, Penn made the rounds in Georgetown and was spotted at Lulu's New Orleans Cafe, socializing with his young buddy from Georgetown University, Eric Trump (son of The Donald).

Oh okay, can you supply me a list of the cool bars please, so I don't make the same mistake.

 Lulu's : 1217 22nd Street NW, Washington D.C.
This is the cheesiest club in all of DC. They play songs on 99.5 all night and then you have to deal with all the annoying, fake people. I vow never to return.

Am I living under a rock? Is Penn making a movie in DC? See, you live in arlington, and lose track of all these things.

Maybe he was being ironic.

Maybe he went there as no one would expect him to go there. So if some one goes up to him, "hey are you Sean Penn?" He could reply, "Do you think the real Sean Penn would hang out in a dive like this."

 Maybe he likes cheap slappers.

Maybe he is not a pretentious asshole that cares about hipster cred and just wanted a good time.

He was in town researching a role where he plays a CIA agent (co-stars Nicole Kidman). Don't know where it will be filmed.

And yes, living in beautiful Pentagon City, you are living under a rock. We'll be joining the NoVA rock at some point this year.

During downtime Friday night, Penn made the rounds in Adams Morgan and was spotted at a poorly heated apartment, socializing with his not-so-young buddy from the Census Bureau, Rutherford J. Balls (son of a New York state farmer).

Would that have made him cool?

He'd only be cool if he were hanging out with the 9:30 chatboard crew at Velvet Lounge.

You bastard. I will never forgive you or her. But did you have to post it on the board to humiliate me further?

Lulu's is cheesy, but there's a time and a place for everything, if you're a frat person (not me), it's perfect!  and it was Mardi Gras weekend.  What that has to do with CIA research is beyond me though.

Geez. The guy probably just wanted a beer and that's where he ended up. Out-of-towners probably aren't as in the know of what's "cool". My cousins and others come to visit and they always comment on places in Georgetown and otherwise that I wouldn't hang out in. But I go [sometimes] to appease them.
So Sean Penn didn't go to the "hippest" of places....it wasn't Hard Rock Cafe.
Where did you hear / read this tidbit anyway? "Sean Penn fan club / message board"?
