i'm going to go see sucky wilco on tuesday.
i can't leave before 4 p.m., so what time should i leave DC in order to get there on time and beat the heaviest traffic?
i'm dreading the traffic, but i need my suckiness fill.

well, reversing things....I can make the 9:30 club from my place NE of Baltimore on 95 in 50 minutes leaving around 6, so....I think the same would hold
since your coming up, once you get out of DC traffic shouldnt be that bad

When I do the reverse trip from around Loch Raven Reservoir to the club, it takes about a good full 80 min CD. Usually a bit longer by a good 10 mins.
Not knowing exactly where you are coming from I'll just assume from the U St. corridor area, I would say it would be much shorter because you won't have that additional 30 mins or so that I have just getting into downtown Baltimore BUT you will be dealing with a lot of leaving DC rush hour traffic. I'd say to give yourself at least a good 1 1/2 hours to play it safe. If you are lucky, you will get there with time to spare. But I wouldn't even dream of cutting it any closer than 1 full hour unless you don't mind the stress and missing a little of the front end of the show.
Also, I don't know what's going on with parking around there now as I haven't been to the Meyerhoff in years so you may have to circle around and get lost in the weird mess of streets in the area. It's like DC goofiness in that neighborhood with all the curved and 1 way streets. I suspect that there's some place that will allow you to park for tons of money but I couldn't swear to it.

well, if you leave around 6 and take the parkway up to balmer, it should be just about an hour, maybe more if there's an accident. . .or a baseball game.
-
and there is a game tommorow.....
-
and it will be raining...

The Orioles game is at 7:05, so the traffic should peak before then.
If you take Martin Luther King Blvd from the 95 spur into Baltimore, it'll take you right to the area around the Meyerhoff.

usually takes 2 hours from mclean to baltimore. more on friday. rain could make it even longer

Parking should not be a problem if you can't find something on the street as there are garages that cater to the theater (The Lyric), symphony and University of Baltimore crowd.
Going to DC from Baltimore (Hampden) tends to take me about an hour so I agree that you should definitely give yourself more time than that as more than likely, you'll hit more rush hour traffic coming north than I would heading south.

theres a garage specifically for the meyerhoff up just a little bit from the hall (I believe its on cathedral but dont hold me to it)

cut over to connecticut ave and take that up to 495
or get to river road (by taking wisconsin to western or cutting through the neighborhoods if you know the way) and take that
