It's a far better song than you think. Not 50's usual fare. But whatever . . . .

what exactly are you disappointed about - that i have more b'more hip hop cred than you b/c i know it; or that this one slipped under your radar?
gotta 'fess up, i didn't know that song beforehand - had to search for it. i also haven't heard it, so no idea if it's any good. i know next to nothing about hip hop. even mainstream stuff like fiddy i only know a fraction of what's on the radio or tv

Well I know the Gram Parsons and Bobby Bare versions of this song, but according to a google search, Coldplay covers it as well?
Well I sold the farm to take my woman
Where she used to be
We left our kin and all our friends
Back there in Tennessee
And I bought those one way tickets
She had often begged me for
And they took us to the streets of Baltimore
Well her heart was filled with gladness
When she saw those city lights
She said the prettiest place on earth was
Baltimore at night
Well a man feels proud to give his woman
What she's longing for
And I kinda liked the streets of Baltimore
Then I got myself a factory job
I ran an old machine
And I bought a little cottage
In a neighborhood serene
And every night when I'd come home
With every muscle sore
She'd drag me through the streets of Baltimore
Well I did my best to bring her back
To what she used to be
Then I soon learned she loved those bright lights
More than she loved me
Now I'm a going back on that same train
That brought me here before
While my baby walks the streets of Baltimore
While my baby walks the streets of Baltimore

looks like Fiddy's version (http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/50-Cent/A-Baltimore-Love-Thing.html) is something entirely different...
-
I love that song about Baltimore. (The Streets of Baltimore)
It always makes me feel like I'm home.

The more I think about this maybe one of the greatest song ever written... and it could apply to many of a male forumites.
Well, I don't hate my parents
I don't get drunk just to spite them
I've got my own reasons to drink now
Think I'll call my dad up and invite him
I can sleep in till noon anytime I want
Though there's not many days that I do
Gotta get up and take on that world
When your an adult it's no cliche it's the truth
(Chorus)
'Cause I'm an adult now
I'm an adult now
I've got the problems of an adult
On my head and on my shoulders
I'm an adult now
I can't even look at young girls anymore
People will think I'm some kind of pervert
Adult sex is either boring or dirty
Young people they can get away with murder
I don't write songs about girls anymore
I have to write songs about women
No more boy meets girl boy loses girl
More like man tries to figure out what the hell went wrong
I can't take any more illicit drugs
I can't afford any artificial joy
I'd sure look like a fool dead in a ditch somewhere
With a mind full of chemicals
Like some cheese-eating high school boy
Sometimes my head hurts and sometimes my stomach hurts
And I guess it won't be long
Till I'm sitting in a room with a bunch
of people whose necks and backs are aching
Whose sight and hearing's failing
Who just can't seem to get it up
Speaking of hearing, I can't take too much loud music
I mean I like to play it, but I sure don't like the racket
Noise, but I can't hear anything
Just guitars screaming, screaming, screaming
Some guy screaming in a leather jacket
Wooah!
(Chorus)

TPOH played the very first HFStival (although it wasn't called HFStival back then) along with the Tragically Hip, Jawbox, and several other bands I can't recall.

Are you referring to that song "Last Cigarette"?
That's a good one for Sonick.

that is a good one for sonick's personal playlist :)
but i was talking about The Pursuit of Hapiness - I'm an Adult Now.
back home in canuckia, i remember the splash made by this hit - was all over the radio and MuchMusic (our MTV). did it make any waves here at the time, or was it all below the surface?
