can i just tell you that one of the finest memories of my teenage years is me and my girlfriend in 10th grade, stealing her dads car (before we were old enough to drive) and tearing down 401 in the middle of the night.

and for sure, we had this "cassette single" and would play it over and over and over...

 anyway.

There was an awful cover band butchering this song (amongst others) down by the WW2 memorial for the last two consecutive Wednesdays as part of some tribute to the armed forces event.

Other than that, this song rules.

My friend's Dad would play this song over and over again in the carpool on the way to swim practice.  I think it was because he walked in on his wife and another woman though.

priceless - i have that same memory of 10th grade, taking my moms car and racing others out on 37 near sears raceway. and naturally that cassette single blaring  :)

not surprising, 2 years later, a guy died racing his car on the same roads from my high school class.

The Mom wasn't terribly hot.  The other woman I have no idea about.  The husband and wife divorced soon after.  I think the husband was going through some kind of shock.  Thus, that damn song.

PET PEEVE ALERT

Incorrect grammar in a song is intolerable.  GGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHH

I don't CARE that you're trying to rhyme!!!  A clever person would find another way.

Sorry, I know this has been an annoying aside.  I just can't help it.

Blimey bags...that pretty much eliminates 95% of all songs ever written. Actually, never listen to Billy Bragg, he's made a good living out of poor grammar.
