anyone else hear this album yet? i heard a little bit of it but not the whole thing...not as depressing as i thought it would be, considering that elliott supposedly killed himself while he was making the record.
-
I really cannot wait to hear it. I love Elliott Smith so much...was always a major fan of his, it bums me out so much that he's gone. Where did you hear the tracks?
-
soulseek, the best..yea i miss the guy too..its so obvious that his girlfriend killed him, have you read about it?
-
It's pretty interesting...honestly, I would have a bit more respect for him if that had been the case. A tragedy, but I could at least listen to his music and feel a little comfort knowing that he wasn't as miserable as people made him out to be. But jeez, if she killed him, I wonder what that is all about. I found it odd there were 2 stab wounds...how does one stab yourself in the heart, twice no less? I guess it could be done, just seems crazy to me.
-
theres no way, a poor little guy like that could have the nerve to stab himself TWICE in the heart, do you realize the balls that would take? Also, he had stab wounds in his hands which is an obvious sign of defending himself....ridiculous that nothing will come of this ya know, i mean justice wise.

Maybe he was playing that stab me in the hand game.

And he missed a couple of time and hit his heart.

The homepage lists a variety of places to hear MP3s. Mention of a DVD too..interesting. Also, a track is on that America / Rock the Vote cd.

i'm listening to the self-titled album right now. i was listening to "from a basement," but i just don't like it that much. there, i said it. i mean, i thought "figure 8" was pretty crappy, but there were some fucking perfect songs on there, just a whole bunch of bad ones as well. i've listened to "from a basement" a bunch of times over the past month and the only song that really gets me is "memory lane." granted, it fucking GETS me like basically only an elliott smith song can, but the rest of the album is just sorta blah. for an elliott smith album, of course. it's still pretty damn beautiful. didn't find it that much more lyrically depressing than any of the old stuff, honestly. and musically it's more in "xo"/"figure 8" territory, so that keeps things a little more upbeat.
he killed himself. c'mon, people.

I'd like to know how it is possible for someone to stab themselves twice...in the heart. The little I know about forensics suggests that this is next to impossible, but then again I could be wrong.
I thought Figure 8 was his best record, personally. So I have a feeling I'll like this next one. Elliott was just an amazing songwriter, a musical genius on many levels.

Man, I was hoping this thread would be about some pirate station coming out of Eastern Market.
