Title: what's up with all the strange links

when i type certain words or phrases, links to crazy things appear.  is nine thirty paying the bills, or what?

I haven't noticed anything like that. Do you Google Toolbar installed in your browser? It does that in some cases. There's some other Firefox extensions that also have similar features . Or you might have accidentally installed some spyware on your machine.

Sounds like you picked up some annoying spyware. It's not coming from the 9:30 site.
 
 Download, install and then run this (http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html) program. It's free, takes up very little space and is easy to use. Best yet, those little bastards will be gone.
 
 On a more advanced level, if you know what site it's coming from, go into your Advanced/Security/Restricted sites buttons and put a block on that site.
