Title: Your Favourite Remix of All Time
Post by: on February 22, 2007, 01:48:00 pm
To try and inject a bit of life into the forum whats your favourite dance remix of all time, has to come from a non dance act to start with i.e no remixes of dance records. You're only aloud one choice, fill your boots...

I'll go with our remix of Nine Inch Nails' "Only" (http://www.myspace.com/mindlessfaithonlyremix)  :)

I wouldn't say NIN is a dance band and certainly not the original track.

Keeping in MindCage tradition, I'll pick one of ours too  :)

I really like the remix that Richard Morel did of our tune, "Wounded Valentine," which is on our  MySpace page. (http://www.myspace.com/softcomplex)

I love a good remix and wouldn't know where to start with an absolute fav, but the Portishead remix of Paul Weller's "Wildwood" springs as a really good one.

That's a tough call.  The only two that popped into my head were Sinead O'Connor's "Mandinka (Jake's Remix)" from the Emperor's New Clothes Single and a remix of Whale's "Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe" but I don't think either of those would be my favorite if I were sitting in front of my CD collection.

I don't know about of all time, but last year it was Soulwax's remix of The Gossip's "Standing in the Way of Control"

There are remixes of "Lemon" and "Even Better Than the Real Thing" but i can't which exact version i prefer

 Fools Gold (Grooverider remix)

 Fav Norm Cook/Fatboy Slim remixes

A Tribe Called Quest I Left My Wallet in El Segundo [Vampire Mix]

Cornershop - "Brim Full of Asha"

New Order - Blue Monday (Richie Hawtin remix)
Elvis vs Junkie XL - "A Little Less Conversation"
Charlantans UK vs The Chemical Brothers

Other favorite remixers Theivery Corp, Carl Craig, Weird Science, etc

Of course there are great extended versions of songs which aren't technically remixes

No love for mashups?

My favorite overall is "Moon Frog" by AlexH, which is:
Groove is in the heart - Dee-lite | Blue Moon - The Marcels | Peace Frog - The Doors | Bad - Michael Jackson | Pump up the Jam - Technotronic | Louie Louie - The Kinks | Wild Thing - The Troggs | Baby I don't care - Transvision Vamp | Music to watch Girls by - Andy Williams | Soulfinger - The Barkays | S'Express |

The one that cracks me up the most is "In Da Benny Hill Club" which mashes 50 Cent over Yackety Sax

An awesome rock one is "Rock In Black" by GHP, which fits the vocals of We Will Rock You seamlessly over Back In Black

I'd consider mashups to be a category separate from straight-out remixes.

Favorite mashups that come to mind:

 - Evolution Control Committee's mashup of Herb Alpert and Public Enemy
 - FK1000's mashup of the Roots and K-Os
 - Kidgusto's "Holy Brown"

Good call.  Forgot about that one.  Why I've never replaced the vinyl for the SBS single is beyond me.

haven't really collected much in the way of mashups... but never get tired of Girl Talk's "Night Ripper".

Tubular Bells played at 1000-RPM sounds like pac-man.
