Pollstar just listed a handful California tour dates for Ms. Harvey from August 13-20. Here's hoping she comes over to the East Coast after that. There's a space of about 10 days before her next show in Ireland on August 31. Here's hoping she stops on the East Coast before heading back to Europe.
-
Thanks for the update, I've been keeping a close eye on this lately.
-
Oy, I shouldn't post before I have coffee. Apologies for that poorly written post up there. :(

Maybe I also need coffee because it made perfect sense to me.

Who uses the word "oy"?

So far in this thread, two people. Oy! Make that three!

Who doesn't like a good "oy" band on occasion?

I guess you never saw/heard of the "Coffee Talk" skits on Saturday Night Live.

Rhett prefers "boy" bands.
-
I guess not.
And I can also claim that I've never drank a cup of coffee in my life. So I guess I'm just deficient when it comes to coffee and oy.

Billboard reported on the CA shows a few days ago and stated that "PJ Harvey won't embark on a North American headlining tour until the fall." Looks like we will have to wait longer . . .
-
I should just book a ticket to Ireland to see her show. I have a couple of friends who live there and could crash with them. :)
-
Polly Jean Harvey...she's DREAMY. God I love that woman. <SIGH>
I'm still not sure I love Uh Huh Her, but I have a feeling that this will be yet another tour not to be missed. I cannot WAIT.

Not sure her record has done that well, I would imagine she'll do the 9:30. God, I am keeping my fingers crossed. I cannot wait to see her again. Last time I saw her in a club was at the Black Cat and she rocked the place.
-
Hope she comes here. I saw her in San Francisco a couple of weeks ago. And she really rocked the Great American Music Hall. Even if you don't like or have bought her current album, she does plenty of stuff from her previous albums. So I'm sure there will still be a big demand to see her live.

I was at the Black Cat show as well! :) That was at the old BC, one of the last shows I saw there, I think. She sold out the 9:30 when she performed in 2001, so I'm sure it would happen again.

And if you recall, the date was Sept 10, 2001

KICK ASS...I cannot believe how many of my favorite bands I've been able to see this year. If I can get tickets for PJ, this is really going to be one of the best years in memory for concerts. Awesome!!!
-
Is it just me, or has this coming October become an insane month for shows?
PJ Harvey
Social Distortion
...Trail of Dead
Motorhead
Black Keys
Mission of Burma
Libertines
Radio 4
Mike Watt
Richard Thompson
Mountain Goats
John Vanderslice
Clinic
Q And Not U
Bad Religion
Death Cab
Pretty Girls Make Graves
Camper van Beethoven
TV on The Radio
The Zombies
Love
-
I know...not to mention all the other shows I want to see. If I get tickets for the DC shows, that means I will be seeing the Pixies 6 more times before the end of the year.
-
When do tix go on sale?
-
for PJ or the Pixies?
-
PJ

No idea about when PJ is going on sale. Hopefully soon!

arrrghhhh...i have to be at the warehouse on 10/13 for wives (who kick ass). pj harvey puts on one of the best live shows i've ever seen...i'm hoping to step away from the warehouse to catch some of pj's set.
i don't know if anyone cares, but diamanda galas is at the lisner on 10/14...which is the same day as mission of burma at the black cat and laura cantrell at the iota. all three are shows that i want to see badly.
october is always the best month to see shows. the warehouse schedule is pretty solid, too.
10/5: frog eyes
10/6: gogogoairheart/chinese stars (ex-arab on radar, six finger satellite)/year future (GSL, ex-VSS/angel hair/subpoena the past)
10/9: IQU/zykos
10/11: bible of the devil/lamont
10/13: wives/navies/barr
10/16: bloodthirsty lovers (ex-grifters/dambuilders)
10/17: oxbow/dixie witch/meatjack/amplified heat/the last vegas (get hip rec.)
10/19: entrance
10/22-23: the 20 buck spin festival: celebrating DC/MD doom/stoner/heavy psych
10/31: karate/the evens (early halloween show
10/31: wolf eyes (late halloween show)
and lots more in november...
-
yoooo. i think ill be at BOTH halloween warehouse shows. i was gonna catch black tape for A blue girl in richmond, but karate and wolf eyes both kick that shows ass! and the evens is a major plus.. since i havent seen them yet. whats this dc/md doom fest thing about? sounds promising.
-
yeah, wolf eyes on halloween will be something special, i assure you.
the doom/stoner festival will be incredible, if you're into that sort of thing. DC hasn't had a valid festival in a long time, and i put together this event as a celebration of all the fine MD/DC progressive heavy rock since the days of pentagram. the hidden hand and dead meadow were interested but couldn't do it, but i've managed to round up a solid line-up of locals and nationals. i'm waiting for one or two more confirmations. here's a preview of who's playing:
internal void (MD, 3/4 of the current pentagram)
unorthodox (MD)
wretched (MD)
war injun (MD, kyle from earthride, JD from internal void)
the valkyire (VA)
nitroseed (MD, rob from earthride and gary from spirit caravan)
the wayward (ex-carrion)
beaten back to pure (sludge metal from norfolk, va)
5ive (guitar/drums heavy drone a la earth, from boston)
dragon green (from allentown, pa; epic instrumental doom)
vog (VA)
-
btw that was me posting as CHOLO, my old screen name on this board. i finally found my password for it so i had to use it. oh well, back to this screen name.
-
by the way, killer lineup. im down.
-
*look at 930.com frontpage*
Wish granted, I guess.
-
Damn, sucks they go on sale tomorrow. Had to pay rent with my last paycheck. Guess it's time to dust off that MS Money installed on my computer. Anyone want to buy a ticket for me and I'll repay ya next Wednesday? :D
-
Yeah, sure.
-
Opinions wanted: Do you think this is a show that will sell out almost immediately or do you think I can wait until the weekend when I can stop by the box office?
-
Hard to say...35 clams ain't cheap, but it's PJ and she is fantastic. It will sell out within a few days is my bet. I hope our internet is back up at work in the morning, or else I may need one of you kind souls to buy an extra and I will pay you back immediately. I've never seen Polly at the 9:30 before and I really want to catch this show!

It will sell out, but I wouldn't say immediately. If you really want to go, I'd say get a ticket by Friday. Maybe it's just NYC, but she's sold out shows there in under 3 hours.

Not to equate them, but GBV sold out two shows in NYC in a day (the Saturday show sold out in a couple hours, the Friday show took a couple days). Yet the one GBV show here in DC just sold out a couple days ago, about six weeks after going on sale. I'm just noting that the rush usually isn't so intense here...but yeah, get to the club by this weekend I'd say. [Now watch me be wrong...]
-
Everyone who is unsure must go. It's PJ at a club! Holy moly I'm excited! I obviously missed the Black Cat show...
-
I'm probably gonna go tonight to buy tickets, if anyone is interested, shoot me an e mail and we'll figure something out.
-
I didn't take any chances, I bought my ticket already. I remember the Black Cat show sold out REALLY fast. Of course that was about 600 tickets instead of 1200. But I do think this one will go pretty quick. PJ at the 9:30...this is going to be an amazing gig.
-
picked up my tix after work today :D

Oh, and I should be having a friend coming in from London then. Don't know how I'll survive the month!
