Anyone going? It's a solo show for both of them...
-
Thinking about it...
-
It's been awhile since I've been to Jammin' Java, so do the acts start at showtime, which is 8pm, or is it when they start letting people sit down...
-
J.S. is very close to making my 2004 "best of so far" list. It's a great early morning/late night listen. The guitar playing is such an integral part of the record though that I wonder how she'll be solo.
I'd check her out if I could.

8 PM Jesse should go on.
They generally start seating after the sound check - about 7:30 pm or so.
(sound check generally 7 - 7:30 pm).
But -- you can get food / show up early and mark your territory w/ something, then sit in a booth, or in the front until after the sound check. Then go claim your seat.
I'm calling to get my ticket in advance (I decided 2 sec after my initial post I'm going). I'll get the run down.

well the place closes at midnight so it's not going to be a really late show regardless..
is there a service charge for advance tickets?
-
I can't remember if there was a service charge on advance tickets. If it was, it was no more than a dollar each.
Not going to this show, as we're going to DBT Saturday. But have seen Jesse Sykes (with full band) twice, and she was a good act to sit down and enjoy, so this is a good venue for her.

Jesse on at 8 PM
Ken on 8:45 / 9:00 PM
Tickets $10 at the cafe before show
Or, by phone $10 + $1 service fee
Or, at door $12

How was this show?
Did Jesse have a full band, or just her and Phil the guitarist (her boyfriend), or just her.
I swear I saw Phil at the Drivbe By Truckers show Saturday nite in Richmond.

So...you're just gonna casually mention it and not tell us anything about the show?

ended up being a netflix night...

Just her w/ guitarist. She sounded good, but her voice didn't carry to the back. She sang a little to the ground. She is a beautiful woman! Very nice too. Ken Stringfellow played until about 11:30...He sings an awful lot about love...I prefer guitar to piano. He was good, but near the end, I was a little drained w/ the theme, tone and piano. He's very positive, talks a lot to the audience and sold his own merch. Trying to make up for a speeding ticket he obtained on the way down, he burned singles to disc for purchase. They are not available elsewhere, and won't be. I thought to get one for Kosmo, wasn't sure if he was there or not.

Oh, she commented early on in the show that she wished she had a everyone together as a full band on-stage. But that everyone has their own act right now, doing their own thing. (I assumed she meant Ken.) Also, Ken mentioned that this is their first time touring together, and basically hanging out, that they are neighbors. Nifty.
