awesome!
-
Thanks for posting this one. Don't know that I would have heard about it otherwise. We'll definitely check this one out.
-
Glad to hear it!
Please spread the word about this show -- House of Sweden wants to start hosting more shows, but it's a bit harder for them to get the word out than a traditional venue.
-
I know a couple of people who might have an interest, so I'll definitely tell them.
Any idea if there is seating at this show, or all standing?

The last time I talked to the embassy's event coordinator, they were planning on setting up cafe tables and chairs. Also, there will be a beer and wine cash bar. Just let me know if you have any other questions!
-
any chance we can ask them for an appearance by their national (http://www.tvacres.com/admascots_swedishbikini.htm) bikini team (http://www.swedishbikiniteam.com/)?
viva las stereotypes!

I'm a dork. Avoided this thread b/c I didn't think the show was local. :p
Thanks for the announcement. She's played in DC before, right?
You mention publicity is tough, however, think this show will be full?
I'd definitely be interested in future shows.

Ane Brun is a Norwegian singer/songwriter who now lives in Sweden. She plays folk-y type indie music. Pretty, coffeehouse stuff.
For more info, visit www.anebrun.com (http://www.anebrun.com) or check out her MySpace page if you want to listen to a few songs: http://www.myspace.com/anebrun (http://www.myspace.com/anebrun)
She has a lot of Swedish and Norwegian fans, so the embassy is predicting a full house.

Hope some of you guys can make it to this show tomorrow night!
-
i'd like to go, but my sorry ass will be working late! i love house of sweden too. what a fabulous location. man, the swedes go lucky with that piece of property.
-
I can't make it either b/c of work. Hope it goes well. Keep up posted on future shows. And bring back Ane again. :)

So we went to this thing last night. The space was good, though too fucking hot. Ane Brun was anything but hot: her songs were icy and a bit boring, and she was a bit chunky. She introduced one song by saying that "sometimes you have to fill in the holes". My wife proceeded to rip one of her pregnancy farts very loudly during the small space of silence that preceeded the song. Then she couldn't stop laughing out loud, in spite of it being a sad song.
There were alot of foreign speaking types there. I bet none of them were at Ane Brun's show at Jammin Java last year.

rhett, fantastic review (honestly), thank you
-
oh shit...every time I think about this or read this I die laughing...I'm telling you, though, some things you lose control of when your body starts freaking out...
at least it didn't smell
-
I think I heard that!!
And yes, too hot.
I thought Ane Brun was actually pretty good, but it was odd that she did more than one song off of her Duets album... alone.
