I took a pass on getting tix in advance.  What are the prospects for the show?  Seems pollard's been unimpressed in the past...

The performance last time was a little "sterile."

I realized last time that I really do enjoy seeing musicians' faces. But I am going Sunday out of curiosity to hear their new music.

seeing as there is a ton of stuff next week i think passing is my vote... but reading the brief on allmusic yieled this tidbit....

"Voodoo Wop"'s blend of surf and Krautrock are a logical progression from Clinic's roots

sounds like it could be a train wreck or total bliss

I'm going.  I think they may do better in the confines of the Black Cat.

their albums are bliss in my opinion, but from my experience which has been echoed by other reviews, they are kind of bland live

Fer sure to be there. Hoping they play much from Wrangler, as that's a great album.

No kidding. A show with two encores should last longer than 45 minutes. And since the first two bands weren't real exciting (Ratatat was okay), I was disappointed. But when they *were* playing, Clinic were great.

So I guess the first act last night, Mad Action, have a studio where BRMC will be recording.

"Weâ??re going to go to Philadelphia and record at Mad Actionâ??s home studio, Iâ??ve been there a couple times and I really like it. Itâ??s just a house with a mom and dad cooking food upstairs. [Weâ??re going to] just try and go back to simpler days when it wasnâ??t about the $100,000 recording budget, $20 dollars to buy some tape, and just get it done."

I thought the sound was awful at the beginning of clinic last night but they were pretty good by the end.  Ratatat were atrocious.

That ubershort set seems to be par for the course...I remember being shocked when the lights came up at the 930 show.

p.s. pollard, what made ratatat so atrocious? they sound pretty good on record...

really not my thing, but it seemed to me it was by the numbers rock guitar riffs over by the numbers hip hop beats, and the songs were too similar
