Title: Pocket Rockets
Post by: paige on July 21, 2003, 11:01:00 pm
saw them at ft. reno tonight...... here are my thoughts (i had been told that they were pretty damn good and all this lovely stuff):

-the lead singer does not know how to play bass. she has a good voice, but i felt like she was just ever so lightly tapping her bass rather than getting all into it. her instrument actually looked too big for her. she was tiny.

-drummer - goodstuff. nothing out of the ordinary but fast, fun and upbeat. i liked it.

-other chick guitarist. loved her guitar, it looked like a ukelele. she had cool hair too, and a lower, more awesome voice. mediocre but still entertaining.

overall, this band does nothing new, save some interestingly said lyrics, and is in no way as great as someone made them out to be. by the end of their set i was bored with them, but for a warm summer night in tenleytown, it wasn't bad.

I saw them open for D Plan last year, was not impressed, but I remember thinking the drummer was far better than the other two.  Which may be why he plays and tours with another band.

I thought Meredith Bragg was excellent.  Did any of you catch his band? I'd never heard of him before.

 Any info on Meredith Bragg?

The drummer (Mat Lewis) is a very cool guy and a killer musician.  He deserves a better band.

I really liked Meredith Bragg, nice relaxing music to listen to on a warm night. Great voice, and all around good times.

Yeh, the breeze going through Ft. Reno was pleasant.  On a nice evening like last night, the park can be a wonderful venue.

i saw them a couple years back when the band was still in highschool... musically not fantastic, i've heard worse.  but i loved how they named names of their fellow students that inspired the songs.

Well, I was all the way in the back sitting behind half of Fugazi and near a girl with a dog that was jumpy.  Perhaps you were close by?
