70% chance of attendance.  I have a friend in from Kenya, and have to go with the flow...there's a chance we'll get a crew to the Blue Room.

How do you arrive at the 70% figure?

Wow.  I think that means you just don't like Sleater-Kinney.

Hello to all!!  A quick reminder and a unfortunate
 schedule change:
This weekend's big in-store with Kristin Hersch and 50 Ft.
 Wave is
cancelled!:>(  -- due to some unforseen conflicts.  We did
 get lucky and
rescheduled a band from NYC called the Group Sounds, so
 check them out
before they're the next big thing.
   Other in-stores this April:
 Saturday 15th -- DJ Maxx 3PM
Sunday 16th -- Group Sounds For fans of: the strokes 4PM
 Saturday 22nd -- Critically Acclaimed (dc hip-hop) 3PM
 Sunday 23rd -- GIST (revolution rock) 4PM
Saturday 29th -- Misa (down tempo DJ 3PM
Sunday May 30th -- Libby Wiebel (cont. folk) 4PM

I hate driving to Iota, but I'll be there. Already have the album/EP and have been really enjoying it. I've been a Kristin Hersh fan for years. Her "Hips and Makers" is one of my favorite albums of the '90s.

Come to The Blue Room! Yeah!         :D                :D                :D

I have it on good word that the band (Highspire) are a bunch of Markies; assuming they are up to full form. (Fair warning to Medusa and Strange.         :p

 * Fair warning, the band will be leaving early so they can get in to work on time the next day. Not sure what early means but at one point, I was told by about midnight.

I don't listen to the station but supposedly Highspire have been on the top 25 rotation at KEXP for the past month. Also, one of the top sellers at Tonevendor and had just recently slipped from the #1 slot after being there for about a month.

Sorry Brennser, I'm not a Kristin Hersch fan. Besides, I had already previously made plans for this night.

How was the show?  I was just too wiped out after a busy weekend, two friends in from out of town, and a Sunday BBQ that went 'til after 10.  Hope it was great, for big fan Brennser alone!

eh, twas ok - I was practically catatonic with fatigue so wasn't really in the mood to be at a show in the first place

The Standard were very very good - bought a copy of their CD after the show - kinda Radioheady I guess (before they became self indulgent)

50'~ were LOUD - hurting your eardrums loud - no other way to put it - the drummer is a freak of nature - unfreakinbelievable - for the first few songs you could barely hear the vocals which was kinda irritating - I moved towards the back and it was a little better - the songs I knew were great - the songs I didn't know were LOUD

 and the crowd was

 1. Small
 2. Quiet - even Hersh commented on it and
 3. Didn't move around much (I'm as much at fault as anyone here)
