The pictures that haven't been published...of course, view at your own discretion... Mankie, I hope your unit never did this...

90% of those sex pictures with the females are fake...it was on the news last night. i really doubt an iraqi woman opens up her mouth begging for the money shot.
-
Well the fact the one of them is a known fake (the last one) it is hard to know how many are real.

i can't stand all this lefty bullshit. look at the phrase you started this thread with, and then check the rest of the front page. nobody had the balls to start a thread expressing their disgust at how an innocent civilian was brutally decapitated by these sick nut-jobs, but you're still so pissed at bush and his cronies. where's the world outrage over this sick action? how about the US outrage? it seems like we don't care, and i find that troubling.
generally speaking, we've been put under the microscope because of the prison abuses, but a large part of that scrutiny came from within our borders. our journalists broke the story, our military is prosecuting the courtmarshall of the guilty MP's and/or interrogators, and our government's legislature is holding daily hearings on what went wrong and how to fix it. all these things are true because we try to hold our own(americans) to a higher standard.
Our enemy has no standard. no respect for the lives of innocents, no respect for the families of those they killed, and no expectations that they themselves should care about such things.
war is awful. that was NOT war. that was a bunch of twisted psychos executing a not only unarmed, but handcuffed civilian- to make a political statement.
i don't really care about bush or rumsfeld, they can go to hell, but they better go FAR behind the assholes who killed that man.

Excellantly put.

well, we did talk about it in the how liberal are you thread. i give you +5 for blaming liberals, but -2 for going too easy on the media.

I agree pretty much and I just don't find those particular images on the link that started this thread all that apalling given the situation. And the one blow job chick doesn't even look like and Iraqi (probably the fake pic) The one of the kid holding the sign is clearly photoshopped, you can see the degradation of the image around the words.

So, when we get invaded by some superpower who claims we have weapons of mass destruction (which we do) and wants to get rid of our tyrannical leader (which he is), and detains you for whatever reason it sees fit (your love of counter-culture twangy music) and then piles your naked body on the top of other naked folks, while some some butch soldier points at your privates and gives the thumbs up, or down (Rhett would know better than i)we'll ask you if you feel the way you're being treated is apalling, 'given the situation.'
-
we use our wmd to protect free society..
and no, W is not a tyrant.
the rhetoric spat out by libs regarding bush and iraq is really getting redundant...
-
Oh, and by the way, the decapitation event was horrible and sick, no matter how you look at it. However, it is impossible to draw fair comparisons. For one, who are the guys who did this? Some sort of radical religious group? Some guys pissed we invaded their country? clearly not the common rank and file Iraqui citizen. Fucking nutjobs... yeah we've got plenty of them here in the us. People get killed in a variety of not so plesant ways everyday. And it is a horrible horrible thing. The difference is, they are sick and twisted, just like the fuckers in Iraq. We make a big deal out of these pictures and events cause these are US soldiers, masquerading under the guise of fighting for justice and freedom. These are the folks who are supposed to protect others from being treated like this. This wasn't some sort of interrogation process, obviously, hell I'd have been reasonably ok with this if it was. This is just some guys having a good old time. Not sickos, or twisted demented nut jobs, just grade A caliber US soldiers looking to get their rocks off at the expense of another human being they view as shittier than them.
Regardless of whether you hate bush or not, liberal or conservative, this is just plain wrong, in any given situation. I honestly don't even know why we're debating this fact.

Rhetoric!!!! Are you fucking blind, deaf, dumb, or all three? This constant shrugging of the shoulders by conservatives makes me ill. If only this were all liberal propoganda. But as hard as you try, the pictures, the numbers, the facts, they just don't go away. "Ha ha ha those liberals and their rhetoric..." excuse me while i go vomit.
Oh, and i said the 'leader' of this country is a tyrant. We all know that's Cheney, not W.
-
obviously rounding up a random citizen and cutting his head off due to his nationality is horrible. frankly i question the sincerity of condemnations that try and attach 'liberal', 'conservative' or any party rhetoric as blame.

Like the rhetoric spewed by conservatives regarding Clinton and consentual (though inappropriate) fellatio was really redundant...
Somehow an international war seems like a bigger deal, though.
Of course the decapitation was appalling, and I've heard a LOT of talk about it; it's not being ignored.
Now, if a militia group from the hinterlands of Michigan were to retaliate against an Iragi citizen of the U.S., should that be viewed as an act of the United States? I think that's an equivalent example, as we know there are those U.S. militia/terrorist groups in existence.

Do you EVER have anything good to say about America, be it its government, its people, or even its music?

im sure youre actually glad this abuse occurred so you have more to whine about.
the libs are really blowing this out of proportion for political gain...which im sure the republicans would do if the dems were running things in washington.
as i recall an internal investigation was started months before these pictures were put out to the public.
now post another whining rant...

I think some intelligent points could be made supporting the conservative case (I'm too much of a lefty to make them), but you sure as hell aint making them.

the point that the military was investigating the prison abuse before all this "outrage?"
-
I think I'm going to have to stop commenting on this subject on this and other boards. I just get more incensed. Plus, I feel badly because it *is* bad shit going down. Truth is, I know very little about such things and I probably should not comment at all. Sorry everybody.

Two things here -- one, you keep referring to "outrage" as if we're making it all up. Regardless of your political beliefs, this is a very black and white issue. Though my gut feeling is that conservatives will continue to spin this as some sort of liberal conspiracy, which just further displays what's wrong with this country's political system.
and two, about these investigations... we could go round and round about whether the american public should be made aware of said investigations, but don't you think congress, the lawmakers of this nation, should be informed? Perhaps if the administration had explained that there were some wrong-doings (course you don't feel they were wrong) and that they were checking into them, as opposed to not saying anything (hmm... wonder why they did that?) we wouldn't be where we are now.

Rumsfeld so horny (http://www.weirdlinks.com/rumsfield-visitis-torture-prison.htm)! He love you long time. He sucky-sucky.
-
You doodles are too busy blaming the left or right for shit, you lose track of the facts.
Since when was Iraq the 'enemy' SHisIT? I thought you went over there to liberate them?
America has been the self proclaimed "human rights" nation of the world, so of course everyone is going to jump all over them when knowledge of the abuse became known, the big fucking hypocrit that America has now become.
The people who cut the dudes head off weren't even in Iraq until America occupied the place. They arrived because Americans invaded.
The dude was told to leave the country for his own safety, he didn't so must take some responsibility for his own demise, which doesn't take away from the brutality of his death.
People say that Al Quaida are brutal religous fundemenalists.....what is the Bush Whitehouse if not religous fundamentalists? Just Christian instead of Muslim. I'm not comparing the two as far as sick, warped and brutal terrorists, but still taking the country in an opposite direction from everything this country is supposed to represent.
Dubya and his cronies have turned America from the most respected to the most hated country in the world, which Americans should be very concerned with, as big as you are you cannot go it alone in this world.
America is the only country in the world that has used nuclear weapons in anger yet preaches to everyone else on the issue?
Your mainstream press is pretty much controlled by the Bush Whitehouse, seeing as the owners are all big business buddies of his, kind of like Al Jezzerah on the other side. It's propoganda vs propaganda at this point.
I'm not a leftie or a rightie, I agree and disagree with some of the opinions of both sides, but you should all be very worried about what will happen if Bush gets four more years to fuck up the world even more than he already has.

For the record....my 'unit' trained NATO aircrew in prepardness in the event they were captured by the enemy....and evidently the US
:D
The only real pow's I ever met were Argentines, and we fed them, let them shower and gave them warm clothes before transferring them to a hospital ship for medical treatment. Most of them were grateful to have been captured so their ordeal was over.
