Care to tell us which?

I saw them. If that was really them, then Modest Mouse sucks!

They played Satin in a Coffin. I imagine it would have made for an interesting first exposure if that is such the case.

Exactly. It wasn't the case for me as I saw them with the Shins a few months back, but with the positive air play "Float On" is getting on the big market radio stations (at least in SF), I thought it was odd for them to make their TV debut (or rare appearance if it wasn't their debut) with Satin in a Coffin.
I know it's uberhip to not play your single, but there had to be a better song than that.

They played Bury Me With It rather than Float On on Carson Daly's show a while back. Isaac Brock also made a strange appearance on MTV's Advance Warning, instead of the jackass host doing an interview with them, it was Isaac Brock playing both interviewer and interviewee in costume in a deposition style question and answer session.

They are horrible.

modest mouse should tour with Wilco and we can call it.....eh, Big Yawn. lol.

Big Technicolor Yawn

Modest Mouse was on Kimmel Mon. night - anybody catch it?
I discovered why they didn't play "Float On" on Letterman - it's a great studio track but boy was it rough live. Notes out of tune, completely out of place, tough for the lead to play and sing at the same time, just a rough live tune all around.

May have something to do with the fact that, according to Isaac, it's the only non-organic song on the album... it's the song he "made myself write because the album needed something a little more happy."
Which makes me glad they're not playing it. I have coworkers approaching me with "I love modest mouse" and I hand them "This is a long drive..." Soon they change their tune to "I love Float On." I guess I'm not real big on folks declaring their allegiances to bands based on one song that sounds nothing like the rest of their catalogue.
I still believe their best work is Cowboy Dan, Convenient Parking, and Trucker's Atlas. But hell, that's my opinion.

Very funny. What I like most about "Long Drive" are the first three songs. They are all killer.

i thought this comment about modest mouse playing at lollapalooza was funny
Keep your eyes peeled for the change in audience reaction when Modest Mouse plays songs other than "Float On"

The hallmark of a lousy act.
