Title: Top 5 October Shows
Post by: HoyaSaxa03 on August 15, 2007, 11:33:00 am
this is a lot harder than September:

 1) Jens Lekman @ Black Cat 10/25
 2) Billy Bragg @ Birchmere 10/22
 3) The Hives @ Black Cat 10/17
 4) Lucero @ Black Cat 10/31
 5) Shout Out Louds @ 9:30 Club 10/28

i can't believe Spoon or the New Pornos didn't make this list, but there you have it

Thinking of maybe Jens or Spoon. Josh Ritter if I was around. You can keep the rest.

 !!!/the field @ webster hall

and i'm thinking of maybe heading down for that hives-black cat show... (i never even really listen to them, but that 930 show still remains one of my faves at that venue.. the BC show should be insanity)

Josh Ritter
 Jens Lekman
 The Weakerthans
 Sunset Rubdown
 The Hives

Forget Billy Bragg if he's playing solo. I prefer him with a band.

Jens is easily number one; I've been looking forward to seeing him for a while now.

If I can make the Boris show, that'll be number two.  And the New Pornos date is number three on my list.    Not sure if I'm going to anything else that month.

I just dropped a TON of cash on some travel commitments I have (marathon lodging, weddings, bachelor parties) so my show-going for the next few months is low.  Of course, it just so happens that the three shows in October that I'm psyched for are on consecutive nights.  Off.

I have one of their albums and it doesn't do much for me. Don't really have any explanation.

well, if you're looking for candidates, i'd recommend:

 Rodrigo Y Gabriela
Thu 10/18/07   Philadelphia, PA  Electric Factory
Fri 10/19/07   New York, NY  Roseland Ballroom
Sun 10/21/07   Washington, DC  9:30 Club

 The New Pornographers
Wed OCT 24 Webster Hall New York, NY
Thu OCT 25 Webster Hall New York, NY
Fri OCT 26 Trocadero Philadelphia, PA
Sat OCT 27 9:30 Club Washington, DC

and although there isn't a DC date that i know of, i'd keep my eyes open for:
 Justice
Sat 10/20/07   New York, NY  Terminal 5
Sun 10/21/07   Philadelphia, PA  Starlight Ballroom

but as we already know, the top 5 october shows will be:
 - daft punk
 - rage against the machine
 - muse
 - queens of the stone age
 - iggy and the stooges
with honorables mentions to gogol bordello and battles      :p

EDIT: vegoose has updated the website with breakdown of artists by day - looks like daft is headlining day one right after iggy, and RATM has day two with muse beforehand... but maybe i'm reading too much into the order that they're presenting the bands there.  i hope that day one doesn't start with battles...

Not that he's music now, but I can't believe no one's put Henry Rollins on this list.
