I know there was a thread on this a while back but I couldn't find it so I am starting a new one.
Newest Worst Commercial Ever: that stupid Viagra commercial where they are all singing "Viva Viagra" instead of "Viva Las Vegas."
Horrible. Makes me want to stick a knitting-needle in my ear. Elvis is spinning in his grave, for sure.

who watches commercials anymore?
-
Apparently Dead Elvis does.
-
Haven't seen it, but Skittles has been making some weird, and disturbing commercials...

I have to agree with you - why in God's name would you sing and rejoice the fact you can't get it up on your own anymore?
I have to admit to something I'm not proud of here - I enjoy the Geico caveman ads.

I used to enjoy those, but at this point I think they are played out. And it frightens me that there is a TV show based on those ads airing soon. The cavemen could hold my attention for 30 seconds, but 30 minutes...I don't think the show stands a chance.
-
I don't watch tv very often (let's say a couple hours a month) but everytime I do, I find myself shaking my head in disdain at the commercials.

We'll find out October 2 on ABC! I'm looking forward to it - I find the writing in the commercials very clever, especially when he's at the therapist and turns it around on her.

Thankfully, my TiVo had prevented me from seeing that:

I concur. That is awful.

How about the ones where the dude has red ponytails or whatever they're called, I think its Wendys, not sure.
-
The current worst commercial is by Audi. On a quiet suburban street along comes a fucking drunk at top speed who skids and spins into a parking place. If someone did that on my street I'd slash their tires.
Car commercials show cars used in patently illegal and dangerous ways, all that would get you thrown in jail and void your warranties. Why do they do this? Can Zippo show their lighters lighting joints and molotov cocktails? Can Ginsu show me slashing a drunk's tires?
-
rush 2112 live - what a commercial for air supply on steroids dictacting many to have an unknown appeal to it for oh so ever too long. like pink floyd gone wrong on every level.

those are hilarious

I don't watch much TV, either. But what's that one with the British school boy who wants to know if it's "Berries and Cream" or something? I love that one. I have no idea what it's for.

As long as you are a professional tire-slasher on a closed course and it was stated as such, I think it would all be kosher.
-
Don't forget the headon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czybX2rEYi0) commercials.

The Audi one is really quite clever - it's taking a shot at Lexus because they evidently have a car that parallel parks itself between two piles of champagne glasses or something like that. I'm damn good at parking but if there were two piles of champagne glasses on the street I might look for another place to park, but that's just me.
I concour with the Wendy's ads - stupid, and if I did eat fast food I'd boycott Wendy's because of their stupid commercials.

I haven't eaten at Quizno's since those freaky singing hamster ads they had on a few years ago. They were definitely channel changers for me.

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICCOLAAAAAAAAAAAAA
and since i'm on a classics kick, let's not forget: MENTOS, THE FRESHMAKER. any commercial that makes up a new word is automatically horrible.

How about the commercials which I think are for Pepto Bismol...the ones where people are doing the "diarrhea dance"? Who comes up with these ideas??

Most people probably don't like it because of the Foo Fighters video.

My 4 year old son loves those ads because his dad gets up and dances along while singing "I feel good, I just had a pooh!" Much to the disgust of his mother, but she's a girl and girls don't get pooh humour! :)

how about ads on the radio for jewelry stores? they are invariable intolerable, as their angle is guilting guys into buying sparkleys for the ladies, since bling = love... as if the men are that stupid, and women that much stupider.
the ones for shaw's jewelers are particularly horrid, what with their recent approach of (woman #1) he bought you that?!? how did he know to go to shaw's?!? (woman#2) his DAD told him! funny thing is, that annoying background music that shaw's uses is licensed to many different jewelry stores - i was in florida a while back and i hear the exact same commercial, music and all, except it was for some other jewelry store. those bling-pushing cheeseballs can't even write/license their own original content. anyhoo, based on thwir commercials i will never, ever set foot in one of their stores.

whatever happened to nuprin??
little. yellow. different.

Two words....Ronnie Mervis. Ugh.

Any ads that use employees instead of actors, then you get them all grouped together in the showroom (yes, it's usually car dealerships) smiling and waving at the camera...or small companies that use their own kids in ads.
Car dealerships who try to tell us 'we're family' I can honestly say in over 14 years in the business I've never turned a customer into a relative.
Actually, car dealership ads in general make me ashamed to be in the business...

Ronnie Mervis rules. But not as much as his brother Zed out there looking for the perfect diamond in the mines of South Africa. 1800-HER-LOVE . . . That's 1-800-HER-LOVE. Those commercials never fail to deliver.

Several years ago Wal-Mart did locally produced commercials with employees. You could watch their eyes follow the cue card, even the "choir" which would join in for the last line.
or small companies that use their own kids in ads.
My brother used his kids in a cable commercial promoting the dealership service department he manages. I've never seen it but I heard it was cute.

To add to the legend of Ronnie and Zed Mervis, the Mervis Diamond website includes 'dating advice' from Ronnie (assumedly through consultation with Zed via remote from the finest diamond mines in South Africa).

Check out "Patty Melt For You"
I will have you singing "Flat Buns, I like flat buns..." all day. I actually stop FFing the TiVo to watch these.

The sexualization of that valued educator was wanton and gratutiously appalling. It's truly a shame that we'd lump objectification on top of the already inadequate pay and little respect we afford our teachers. :(
-
I think of all companies, Burger King typically has the worst commercials. "The King" ad campaign kind of redeemed them, but they've had some terrible ones, especially when they're promoting a disney movie...like The Lion King or Pochantas.
Here's the creepiest one of all: http://youtube.com/watch?v=tTXbMCOywVY (http://youtube.com/watch?v=tTXbMCOywVY)

I just imagine how you would set up that viagra commercial, call your friends, "Hey can you get it up? No, come on over for a sing-a-long".
But for horrid commericials, some of the local real estate guys in Howard County, Pat Hiban has cartoon and other ones done:

I'm loving the new "Good Manners" character....
If my child's teacher ever looks like that, she will have my full respect. And attention.

That's some hilarious shit. That song is in my head, too. I don't care for flat buns at all, but as far as the teacher . . .

PURE CRAP!!!
Carl??s Jr. expels gyrating blond teacher from commercial
September 13th, 2007 · 20 Comments · posted by Nancy Luna
After angering educators with a sexy teacher ad, Carl??s Jr. reps said they will expel the female character from the ??flat buns? commercial.
??Many people are not taking the ad as it was intended to be taken,? CKE Restaurants stated today. ??We will be re-editing it (the commercial) to remove the female teacher character and focus exclusively on the rappers. We believe these changes will eliminate the primary source of concern and we anticipate that the revised ad will begin airing by the weekend.?
CKE is the parent company of Carl??s Jr. and Hardee??s. Both burger chains were promoting its new Patty Melt with the commercial created by Los Angeles ad agency Mendelsohn/Zien.
The ad shows a leggy blond teacher gyrating in a classroom while male teen students sing a rap song about her ??flat buns.?
Brad Haley, a CKE spokesman, said the revised commercial is being delivered today to stations across the country.

Zoom Zoom Zoom by Mazda is up there. That is so friggin annoying, enough already.. I also hate that "People are Smart" commercial. Like you'll buy their $hit cause they compliment you..
