Schumacher smashes record

Michael Schumacher has broken the lap record at Italy's Imola circuit in pre-season testing in his new Ferrari.
The world champion became the first driver to break the one minute 20 seconds barrier at the home of the San Marino Grand Prix.
Schumacher's lap of one minute 19.664 seconds was more than a second faster than next quickest man David Coulthard.

Ohhh aye. One second quicker than this time last year. Whoop de doo. Williams gained more time than that over last year at other tracks.

I have a strong feeling that it is Williams turn. The Mclarens look awful and they dont have the best drivers ever.

Is Schumacher the Tiger Woods of F1, or is he the Michael Jordan of F1?
-
Don't know about that, but I heard Tomas Sheckter was the Hugh Grant of F1.

Woods and Jordans income are chump change compared to Michaels.
markie....He was a second faster than the second place car with Coulthard behind the wheel and 1 second is an eternity in F1 and you know it. Will you be trading in your gay body hugging Ferrari shirt now you've jumped ship?

The Mclarens have not shown well at all, throughout the winter testing. I really think they have problems, many of which stem from not running a new car last year. Somehow they seem to be in a year behind mindset. I rate Renault to be third in the championship with Ferrari second. At this rate BAR might give Mclaren a hard time.
No, I still love the little red cars. I just dont think it is there time. Plus I think the sport is more exciting with several WDC drivers. Prost Senna and Mansell days were pretty good. But I am more than a little impressed with williams car managing to look different from the rest. I couldnt tell this and last years ferraris apart.

New Chinese F1 circuit construction causes concerns

Excellent pic, Dupek. I like the scalextric grooves.

Damned Kyoto protocols!

Well it is looking like I am a complete fool. The ferraris were miles ahead of everyone last night..... I wonder if they can keep that pace over a race distance? I wonder if Williams were sandbagging/running a higher fuel load. If not it might be rather a dull season.

I know, I know, you told me so. Well it was at least fun hoping for a hard fought fight. Still Ferrari almost threw it away last year....

Ferrari front row :(

YAY!
Williams look like like they could be quick with a bit more development. But I am very impressed with BAR and Button. His run was impressively smooth.
-
a dull season in f1

I'd say so....
Ferrari once again has put the Formula One world in its mirrors. Six-time champ Michael Schumacher led a crushing Ferrari 1-2 show Sunday at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. Save for pit stops, Schumi never trailed.

That much domination makes the race very boring.
-
And the new regulations all have been pitched to favour increasing reliability. So the only hope is for unexpected rain, or mental people walking on track to spice things up.
-
and even the mental people on the track bodes well for ferrari.....

Now you too can smell just like the pits!
...Mike's pits after the Ozzie GP, that is.

It wasnt really quite the same though. I mean they lost occasional matches. But its more exciting if the championship isnt decided by half way through. The year before last was a very dull time in F1. It was all decided by France.
