My daughter is going to see them at BU soon so it's definately happening.

tim armstrong is great replacement... they could have gone with a lot worse.. IMHO Rancid were a perfectly acceptable successor to the clash. listening to tim's solo album right now and it's on par with strummers solo stuff.

I actually agree and well, Tim and Joe were friends I do believe. I mean Joe Strummer's other band were signed to the same label as Rancid. I think Joe would find it as a touching tribute.
-
I agree too; Tim Armstrong absolutely kicks ass. And Rancid have always been very reminiscent of the Clash...Armstrong constantly talks about his love for the group and how much they have influenced him, so why not?
Awesome.

It's not that I don't like Tim Armstong or anything and I think he'd do as well a job filling in as could be expected, but this sounds kinda awful to me. I mean why couldn't they have just done this when joe was still alive?
-
I agree. Though I have no idea who this Rancid band is.

I think Shane MacGowan should return the favor seeing as Joe Strummer filled in for him with the Pogues! ;)

as an alum of BU, i can assure you there that BU has an abnormally high percentage of hotties. i practically needed blinders to make it from building to building. me = grad student = feeling like a dirty old man on a daily basis. i'm of the opinion that mankie's daughter must be attractive, based on her choice of school. boston college, on the other hand...

hey, i went to BU too. . .oh wait, i went to a different BU. . .for those of us who didn't go to yankee schools, could you please use the full name (unless they are football schools, oh wait, i don't think they have that game up there)

You forgot your sarcasm tags again, or were you comparing BU to other schools in the Boston area?
-
hang on - read the article (and check the date as previously suggested):
While no details have been released, Mick Jones believes the tour should commence sometime around Christmas 2005, wrapping up in the U.K. by next Spring. No comment was made about any future recording. "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it", Jones cryptically advised.

I work on a campus as well, and it's sometimes frustrating for this out-of-shape, early-40s guy with more than a little grey. I get lots of smiles from the 20-something girls though, which is very nice. I don't know if it's an Anderson Cooper-type vibe or if they think I'm a professor and they're just being nice. Anyway, enough of being vain....

Hey Mankie, if she takes any nursing courses, let me know. My cousin teaches there.
